Job Summary

The Adult Day Program Worker is responsible for the planning and implementation of all daily activities related to the delivery of a Day Program. Develop and maintain all social, recreational and physical programs in consultation with the Recreation Director. Provide personal assistance to the clients and to maintain a high standard of program delivery in a manner consistent to the policies procedures; philosophy and objectives of Luther Home. To promote a safe environment for Residents, Families, Visitors, Volunteers and Staff.

Qualifications

1. Completion of Certificate/Diploma/Degree Program in Recreation Field.

2. Excellent written/verbal communication skills and listening skills.

3. Computer knowledge.

4. Ability to foster good public relations.

5. Ability to foster an environment which is conducive to the wellbeing of clients and staff.

6. Problem solving including assessing the problem, using good judgement and creating a solution to the problem.

7. Ability to accept supervision, guidance from the Director of Recreation.

8. Ability to direct and support others.

9. Good Leadership, Individual leadership, Reliability and Productive.

10. Good physical and mental health.

Able to manage time effectively

Responsibilities

1. Plan and implement recreational, social, physical and specialized programs to promote group interaction, participation, cognitive and physical stimulation.

2. Promote individual accomplishments and enjoyment of purposeful activities.

3. Implement recreation programs in accordance with the capabilities of each member and the group as a whole.

4. Demonstrate creativity and resourcefulness in adapting programs to meet the needs of each client.

5. Plan special events and outings with the consultation of the Recreation Director.

6. Maintain areas of programming by cleaning up appropriately after each program.

7. Ensure that all equipment and materials in the program are well maintained, safe and properly used.

8. Maintain all records and forms as required.

9. Coordinate daily attendance in conjunction with the transportation company.

10. Ensure the transportation company receives relevant information for all new clients.

11. Liaise with the Recreation Director, Case Coordinators re: referrals, discharges, issues etc.

12. Provide information to new clients/family about the program, clarify objectives and expectations, and assess the individual for appropriate attendance.

13. Provide information to the office to complete forms for billing purposes.

14. Maintain waiting list.

15. Update and monitor relevant medical information i.e. medication reminders, diabetics, allergies.

16. Prepare monthly calendar of events in accordance to the interests of the clients.

17. Prepare purchase/sales sheets to submit to the accounting department.

18. Collect cash from the sale of crafts and submit to the office.

19. Purchase supplies as needed.

20. Submit supply orders to maintain a continuous level of kitchen supplies.

21. Consult with clients daily about their lunch order and place order with the Dietary Department

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent

Salary: $18.45-$20.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 7.5 per week

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday

Education:

  • AEC / DEP or Skilled Trade Certificate (preferred)
