Aircraft Sheet Metal Fabricator – Mississauga, ON
Location: Mississauga, ON
Term: Contract position – 6 to 12 months (extendable)
Shift: Monday to Friday – 40 hours per week
Pay Rate: $23.00 per hour (minimum – based on experience)
Job Summary:
Self-motivated individuals who are able to learn quickly while not being afraid to ask for clarification when unsure of the task at hand.
- Working knowledge of sheet metal fabrication equipment, sheet metal terms, tools and equipment used for cutting shaping and forming sheet metal
- Work from blueprints, templates, etc. using hand tools
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations
- Ability to shear parts accurately to the dimensions given
- Ability to layout positions, locations for structural components
- Locate and mark reference lines such as center lines, frames lines, etc.
- Align metal parts or structural components in relation to each other with use of dowel pins, wedges, jacks, turnbuckles and other construction aids
- Must know how to layout most sheet metal patterns proficiently
- Must be able to speak and understand the English language
- May be assigned miscellaneous tasks outside craft as required
- Completion of recognized Aircraft/ Assembly Sheet Metal Fabrication or equivalent course preferred
- Completion of college or other program in aviation or aeronautical technology, with emphasis on aircraft parts manufacturing & assembly
- 1-2 years of relevant experience
Preferred Skills:
Good communication skills, with strong problem-solving skills – particularly relevant in managing customer concerns – flexible to work rotating shifts to accommodate production schedule; must disclose any physical restrictions with regards to bending, twisting, heavy lifting (<50lbs), and standing for 7 – 8 hours.
