Job description

For this new site, we are looking for an Analytical Laboratory Manager, reporting to the Managing Director.
Our client is the leading circular materials technology company fulfilling its mission to create materials for a better life and is preparing to build a facility that will be a critical part of Canada’s electric vehicle (EV) supply chain in Kingston area.
Initially the candidate will play a key role in the construction project collaborating with the engineering team on the detailed information and be responsible for making the lab operational on time which will include personnel hiring, training, equipment ordering, database set up, etc.). The role will also require you to manage analytical operations and monitoring Analytical Quality and Improvement while analyzing the Laboratory yearly budget.

Responsibilities
Building a team, ordering required Laboratory equipments, implementing the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), and preparing local quality documentation.
Overseeing timely analysis of raw materials, process materials, finished goods, and test samples while ensuring validity of results, setting analysis priorities and proposing improvements.
Planning, scheduling and execution of analysis quality & reliability monitoring by statistical tools (SPC, LOD/LOQ, MSA, 6 sigma)
Planning and executing Laboratory EHS programs, training and supervising Laboratory members and seamless communication with other departments.
Develop and verify new analytical techniques for new developed products, assess lab environments, and satisfy the requirements acc. IATF 16949.
Defining and verifying the Laboratory (CAPEX/OPEX) yearly budget.
Standardizing analytical processes, registering and revising Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) following the quality management system in compliance with IATF 16949 and ISO 17025.
Qualifications
Bachelors or Masters Degree in Chemistry or a relevant field.
5+ years of laboratory management experience.
Understanding and knowledge of chemical analysis, validation of analysis, and analytical characterization techniques.
Knowledge of advanced digital tool like PowerBi is a plus.
Knowledge of various Analytical Lab equipment used such as ICP, PSD, KF, Titrator, BET, TD, SEM, XRF, C/S, XRD.
Skilled in core tools and processes like MSA, FMEA, SPC, APQP and PPAP.
Proficient in analysis or testing related standards such as ASTM, EN, DIN, ISO 17025 and IATF 16949.
Ability to conduct root cause analysis possessing good analytical and problem-solving skills
Team player committed to coaching team members with proven ability to coordinate teams and projects while delivering results.
Exceptional communication skills and strong team building capabilities.
