BC Women’s Hospital & Health Centre (BCWH) is the only facility in British Columbia devoted primarily to the health of women, newborns and families. It provides a broad range of specialized women’s health services that address the health needs of women of all ages and backgrounds. BC Women’s is one of the largest maternity facilities in Canada, with over 7,000 births a year, and is both the major primary and secondary maternity services provider in the Lower Mainland and the cornerstone of the provincial tertiary care system. As an academic health centre, BCW’s mandate includes providing strong leadership in research and the education and professional development of health care professionals in areas related to the health of the populations we serve.
The Department of Anesthesia at BC Women’s Hospital is seeking an Anesthesiologist. In this role clinical anesthesia responsibilities will include elective and emergency obstetric and gynecology anesthesia services, the acute pain service, and clinical education activities with all levels of trainees and health profession colleagues. Successful applicants will be recommended for Clinical Faculty at The University of British Columbia.
The applicants will have completed a Medical Degree, Postgraduate Anesthesia Training (Residency or similar), and should also have completed fellowship training in obstetric anesthesiology, (equivalent clinical experience in obstetric anesthesiology based on years of practice will be considered). Other desirable characteristics include: experience in independent anesthesia practice; a proven engagement with quality assurance, research, and service development activity; undergraduate and postgraduate teaching/medical education experience. Academic protected time is assigned according to an objective assessment of requirements.
The successful applicant must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia.
