The Charles S. Curtis Memorial hospital provides well-equipped operating rooms, abundant operating time, excellent Anesthesia services, state-of-the-art endoscopy facilities, ICU, a 64 slice CT scanner, digital radiology, friendly, dedicated, and highly skilled nurses, allied health professionals, and delightful patients. There is a well-staffed Family Medicine Department, and specialists in Obstetrics/Gynecology, Orthopedics, ENT, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, and Pathology. The full-service radiology Department in St John’s, the only tertiary care center in the province, provides a rapid and reliable teleradiology service. Because we are situated 1100 Km from the nearest referral center and patients are often reluctant to travel there, we do more interesting cases here than do most other small hospitals in the country.

POSITION: We are currently seeking the services of an Anesthetist at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony, NL. This opportunity is available immediately.
DUTIES:
- The Anesthetist at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital is a key member of the surgical team and is responsible for the provision of anesthetic services to surgical patients of the facility.
- The Physician is directly involved in the care of the patient pre and post-operatively, they assume responsibility for pre-admission anesthesia clinics as well as pain management postoperatively.
- The successful candidate must demonstrate an awareness of and be responsible for promoting and supporting person-and family-centered care. Patient and Worker safety at the Labrador Health Centre is a priority; as such, the successful candidate must demonstrate a commitment to partner with all team members by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks, and implementing improvements.
- Coverage of on-call commitments for Anesthesia, including weekends and holidays.
- Work throughout the Labrador-Grenfell Health region may be required as necessary.
- The successful candidate will work as a part of a team of physicians and nurses to provide the required services identified above.
- To be considered, candidates must be eligible for registration and licensure as an Anesthesiologist with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador; the criteria for licensure are outlined on the CPSNL website (
- Earned Medical Degree
- Work experience is an asset
- A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance
- A satisfactory Certificate of Conduct from the RCMP or local police authority
