The GOT team of the Global Operations and Compliance Technology (GOCT) is responsible for implementing (and ongoing support) a global, multi-entity, multi-region cash management application used to service our Currency Services business areas. This application is built by a third-party vendor using Java and MS SQL technologies, runs 24 x 7, processes millions of transactions monthly, services 200+ users and interacts with 10+ systems in batch and real-time. It provides a variety of utilities (online, workflow, electronic, reporting) to facilitate a scalable and controlled operational environment for our clients. 
The incumbent will be a senior technical contributor with Java, SQL Server and Active MQ expertise. The incumbent will utilize his or her technical skills to do development, unit testing and deployment. The incumbent will apply his or her troubleshooting skills to work with the vendor, business partners, and IT partners on production issues. The mandate is to provide a workaround or final solution to support our business. The incumbent will carry a pager rotation with other team members for production support.
 
Is this role right for you? In this role you will:
-Understanding the business area and user requirements, providing Production support to business users
-Performing program design, coding and development - performing unit testing
-Producing documentation based on the company's standards.
-Design (and leverage where they exist) reusable frameworks - environment management and layout design.
-Champions a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
-Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
-Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk. 
-Champions a high-performance environment and contributes to an inclusive work environment. 
-Conduct and provide Integrated Systems Testing, Quality Assurance Testing and Production deployment and support on all assigned applications and technology that serve each business unit by analyzing problems, implementing solutions and developing new procedures surrounding support.
-Provide support to all assigned Production applications with adherence to all established risk and control precepts.
-Be a key contributor to developing and maintaining cost-effective and robust applications.
-Manage own development timelines and many related tasks.
-Ensure all tasks are worked to completion. 
-Demonstrate strong knowledge of Agile and/or Waterfall development methodologies.
 
 
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:
-Working experience in a Full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) project and application support are required.
-Solid programming, hands-on experience in UI Design and Implementation, Code Management
-A minimum of 5 years with Core Java / J2EE Web Applications with following mandatory:
-Java, J2EE
-Web Services (REST & SOAP), ability to create/consume SOAP / REST web services.
-JBoss Platform
-Spring Boot (Micro Services) 
-Unit Testing (Junit)
-OAuth2, SAML, JWT
-Active MQ
-Tools (Jira, TFS, Confluence, Azure DevOps pipeline, Jenkins, Artifactory, BitBucket, SonarQube, GIT, Maven / Gradle)
-API testing tools like SOAPUI, postman, LoadUI
-Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent.
-Strong experience with APM tools like Dynatrace, Splunk, etc. 
-Experience with a global platform and experience in financial institutions preferred.
-JBoss/WebSphere Application Server administration 
-Strong knowledge of major RDBMS systems. Preferably SQL Server (5 years +). Strong data analysis skills in SQL Sever 2016 /2019.
-Expertise in designing and building applications using native cloud and microservices architecture.
-Have a proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git, Maven build
-Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in Windows and Linux environments
