Job Description

What is the opportunity?

As the Associate/ Vice President, Fixed Income Sales, you will support the Head of Australian Fixed Income Sales to execute the overall Australia sales strategy, to develop and grow domestic Australian institutional client franchise.

What will you do?

  • Establish, maintain and grow client relationship.
  • Focus on covering clients across the Global Markets (“GM”) product suite of products, specifically –
    • A$ Flow Products – Rates Cash, Derivatives, IG Credit, ABS and Structured Products.
    • Offshore Product – work with offshore partners to identify and grow North American Rates, Structured Credit & IG Credit opportunities.
  • Work with other key GM & wider stakeholders to identify complimentary cross referral business/client growth opportunities – e.g. DCM, Central Funding, Research, FX Sales, Cash Equities and Investment Banking.
  • Support Head of Australian Fixed Income Sales, as required in the execution of wider team goals.
  • Provide support and be mentor of junior team members to help them achieve both individual goals and contribute to wider team goals.
  • Work with onshore/offshore GM & wider business partners to keep them abreast of key themes and developments in relation to the A$ market and client franchise.
  • Satisfy all individual obligations, both internal RBC and external requirements.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Degree educated
  • Minimum of 5 years of Fixed Income Sales experience with direct client management and relationships
  • A thorough understanding of Fixed Income markets, their drivers and standards
  • Sound mathematical knowledge and an ability to think logically
  • A good knowledge of behavioral economics as it applies to financial markets
  • Relevant customer facing sales skills including development of business plans and ability to produce and deliver technical presentations
  • A solid understanding of regulatory requirements relevant to the role
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, across a range of tasks and mediums
  • An ability to work effectively both individually and within a team that may be geographically dispersed.

Nice-to-have

  • MBA, MA, CFA or MS preferred
