Purpose
Contributes to the overall success of the International Banking (IB) Communications team ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team's business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
Accountabilities
- Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
- Is a key player in the planning and execution of robust communications products. Holds ownership for managing the team's calendar of initiatives and leads the execution of established processes across IB Internal Comms. Provides advice to leaders and coaches team members.
- Duties include primary and secondary content research for quarterly results products, videos, town halls, and assorted presentations as required.
- Highly skilled in Power Point, the manager is responsible for assembling and producing quarterly power point presentations for executive audiences, developed in close collaboration with peer teams and in tight deadlines.
- Serves as peer group navigator, connecting the dots across a wide range of partners across the Bank.
- Demonstrates judgement in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining results and problem-solving.
- Integrates organizational understanding and knowledge of products, services, methods and operating standards to manage and deliver results. Previous experience in a Financial Services Institution or knowledge of financial reporting cycles is preferred.
- Advises and supports team members in the planning, development and distribution of campaigns and quarterly materials via email and/or content management systems (such as AEM). Is proactive in collaborating with the content planning team for seamless execution and delivery.
- Fully bilingual in English and Spanish, the Manager supports drafting and editing of internal communications, including monthly and quarterly newsletters, emails, invitations, and leadership messages.
- Provides logistical support for IB Comms' events planning.
- Works closely with in-country partners to plan and execute events remotely and measure results, seeking consistent improvements.
- Has demonstrated experience in project management and is skilled at prioritizing tasks.
- Identifies problems or potential problems and is proactive in seeking solutions.
- Is occasionally accountable for in-house translating as needed.
- Supports and coaches team members in post-event deliverables and reports: analyzes attendee surveys, reports and presents findings; has an excellent command of file management and archiving.
- Supports in-person and hybrid events.
- Serves as primary project manager for IB Internal Comms:
- Demonstrates strong attention to detail to identify information and action gaps and ensure consistency.
- Facilitates troubleshooting and outcomes, recommending solutions based on data analysis and leveraging previous experiences.
- Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships across the Bank.
- Facilitates a culture of open and honest communication within the team.
- Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
- Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
- Champions a high performance environment and contributes to an inclusive work environment.
- 5 years of experience working in a highly collaborative environment, preferably in communications, editorial or event planning teams.
- Demonstrated record of success coordinating and prioritizing competing tasks and inputs from a variety of contributors and managing projects end-to-end.
- Demonstrated ability to switch tasks effortlessly in both English and Spanish and navigate competing priorities.
- Previous experience using content management systems (e.g., AEM) and e-mail mailout tools.
- Post-secondary degree required.
- Excellent skills in Power Point and Excel.
- Completion of project management courses would be a strong asset.
- Previous experience in a financial services institution preferred.
- Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence.
