Job Description

What You’ll Be Doing

The Associate Portfolio Manager will be part of a team responsible for managing fixed income securities, such as money market, bonds, repo, floating rate notes.

How you'll succeed

- By being constantly in touch with the various outside dealers as to the money market rates and their list of inventories, the candidate is aware of any changes in the market that might be able to add value to the portfolio. That could include rate fluctuations or Central Bank decisions or the availability of new issues in the market.

- Negotiate price and amount for money market products

-Trade money market securities

-Manage information on interest rates, exchange rate fluctuations and capital markets to create investment opportunities

-Assist in portfolio construction by helping to formulate the CIBC Asset Management (CAM) Money Market strategy. The strategy is crafted in a semi-quarterly meeting of Money Market team.

-Prepare investment compliance, liquidity and duration reports for specialized money market portfolios

-Assist in the execution of Bonds, REPO, FRN transactions

-In the absence of the VP Money Market, the candidate will be responsible for trading in the Money Market portfolios based on the CIBC Global Asset Management (CGAM) Money Market Strategy. That specifically includes adhering to the client’s Investment Policy Statement (IPS) and pertinent legislation. At all times, respecting the targeted average term, sector term structure and strategy.

Who you are

-Bachelor Degree in Commerce

-Minimum of three (3) years of experience in trading fixed income securities

-You're fluent in French and English to serve our clients in the community

-High degree of autonomy

- CFA or CIM

-Problem solving ability and good judgement

- Capacity to meet deadlines and to work under pressure

- Attention to detail and good interpersonal skills

-Innovation through utilization of technology

-Work well in a team environment

-Knowledge of Bloomberg AIM and SS&C is an asset
