DETAILS OF FUNCTIONS:
Ensure the delivery of services to patrons by managing the circulating collection and public access computer stations.
Prepare and deliver online and in-person storytimes for the Alex Robertson Public Library and the community, including Community Schools, NorthSask Special Needs, and Aboriginal Headstart Program.
Assist with hiring of staff, including Summer Reading Program staff and Library Clerks.
Create a monthly work schedule for library clerks; coordinate, train and supervise library clerks, programmers and volunteers.
Update and maintain training documents.
Instruct patrons on how to use the library and the library resources, enabling them to locate information independently.
Provide patrons with referral and advisory services.
Add bibliographic and item records to the SILS catalogue.
Weed books using established guidelines.
Repair or replace damaged items.
Ensure proper distribution of materials to Saskatchewan Integrated Library System member libraries.
Create posters and social media posts for library programs.
Tasks as assigned by the Library Administrator.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Possess a Library Technician Certificate/Diploma from an accredited school or demonstrate equivalent experience.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES and EXPERIENCE:
Basic cataloguing knowledge.
Knowledge of childhood development.
Must possess computer literacy and have the ability to troubleshoot computer and printer problems.
Ability to work cooperatively with other people is essential.
Good written and oral communication skills, and the ability to present effective programs.
Must have a demonstrated ability to exercise reasonable judgment and discretion.
Must be able to establish work priorities with assigned responsibilities.
Must have demonstrated initiative and creativity in handling unusual situations.
Ability to type 40 words per minute and lift up to 10 kilograms.
