LifeLabs is the largest clinical diagnostic laboratory in Canada, with 16 laboratories across Ontario, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and British Columbia. With a team of 5,700 talented and dedicated employees, we conduct over 100 million laboratory tests each year that supports 20 million patient visits, 36 000 health care providers, and 382 Patient Service Centres in the community. In addition to community testing, LifeLabs provides acute care testing to over 10 long-term care facilities and hospitals. 
We are seeking a Clinical Microbiologist with expertise in Molecular Diagnostics. The successful candidate will work in Ontario, at LifeLabs laboratory alongside Medical Microbiologists and other members of the Microbiology team, working to bring on and/or develop new molecular opportunities and provide laboratory guidance in Bacteriology, Mycology and Parasitology.
The candidate will join an inter-disciplinary Medical-Scientific team, comprised of MDs and PhDs in Microbiology, Hematology, Chemistry and Pathology. The candidate will also work in close partnership with Laboratory Operations, IT, and Quality and Regulatory Affairs to assure quality results are achieved and maintained on a daily basis. 
Major responsibilities will include:
-Provision of diagnostic and technical expertise in Molecular testing to ensure quality performance and accurate results
-Verification and validation of new tests 
-Daily laboratory rounds and provincial laboratory and clinical consult service
-Drafting and reviewing of standard operating procedures and quality control policies
-Participation in accreditation reviews
-Teaching for visiting students, residents, and fellows
 
Applications are invited from board-certified Clinical Microbiologists, certified as a Fellow of the Canadian College of Microbiologists (FCCM) or Diplomat of the American Board of Medical Microbiology (D(ABMM)), or equivalent. Depending on the candidate’s experience, those eligible for board certification may be considered. The successful candidate must have experience in Molecular Diagnostics, demonstrate effective communication and leadership skills, and work well in a team-orientated environment. Experience in the development of laboratory-developed tests is an asset.

This is an in-person role. 
Hiring Range: # ,200 to $152, 900
The hiring range has been established, however, the final salary recommendation will be determined based off the level of experience, education requirement, external market conditions and internal equity.  
In this position, you will be eligible for Lifelabs annual bonus.
