CANADIAN INSTITUTE FOR CYBERSECURITY

The Canadian Institute for Cybersecurity (CIC) is a comprehensive multidisciplinary training, research & development, and entrepreneurial unit that operates in close collaboration with researchers in the social science, business, computer science, engineering, law, science, and other research centres. Established in 2016, CIC serves as one of the very few institutes where researchers and practitioners can come together in a collegial atmosphere to share innovative ideas and thoughts and carry out multidisciplinary research and training. The position will work independently to convert project requirements to Technical Design Specifications and develop code for enterprise-wide and other cybersecurity projects.

Standard Work Hours: Mon - Fri | 8:15 am - 4:30 pm | 36.25 hours per week

Salary Range: $53,178 - $69,115 per annum

A Market Differential may apply.

YOUR FOCUS

Reporting to the Director, the Cybersecurity Software Developer manages technical development, identifies and resolves issues, creates documentation, implements code and performs quality assurance for Cybersecurity Software under development.

  • Manage technical development of Cybersecurity Software from inception through user acceptance, including projects, which affect multiple collaborators and partners and/or pose high-risk situations.
  • Design steps and modules, define timelines, indemnify and resolve issues.
  • Present options and manage industry partners' expectations.
  • Utilize design skills to define Technical Design Specifications for complex and high-impact projects.
  • Create logic flow charts and process diagrams.
  • Create and/or modify code to meet specifications, test and debug work.
  • Support production software operations during normal business and off-hours.
  • Contribute to team discussions.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve partners' issues.
  • Review literature and research existing software solutions.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • A University Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a relevant discipline.
  • 3 years of related experience in developing software programs.

Additional Strengths

  • Previous experience serving as a team and/or technical lead in software applications development projects is considered a strong asset.
  • Solid understanding of Enterprise applications development and good analytical capabilities.
  • Proven experience and knowledge of Python and/or Java programming languages.
  • Exceptional communication skills and ability to interact with both business and technology partners at various levels while applying subject matter expertise for security technologies and solutions.
