Intrado’s Life & Safety group in Montreal is hiring a Database Developer to join our technology team!
Intrado’s Life & Safety division is responsible for some critical parts of our everyday life. Our solutions are responsible for everything that happens after a 9-1-1 call is placed – call routing, delivery, location determination and data management. Whether you call from a landline, cell phone or text 9-1-1, we make sure first responders get the right information at the right time so they can save lives.
As a Database Developer with Intrado; you will be Responsible for creating, designing, developing and implementing logical and physical database schemas and tables in a timely manner; engineer the end-to-end data vision and develop methods for translating the logical design into one or more physical databases documenting how data will flow through the development stages; determine initial table sizing and growth rates based on functional requirements; review description of changes to database design, understanding impact analysis of affected applications to ensure proper database access; optimize database architecture schema and structures, to include files, tables, and table spaces and provide tuning and performance of the application database environment; develop database schemas to ensure rapid implementation of mass data change requests and complex report/data extraction requests making sure the impact on existing applications is adequately analyzed and evaluated
MAJOR JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Create, design, develop and implement logical and physical database schemas and tables in a timely manner adhering to established corporate and departmental policies and procedures
Engineer the end-to-end data vision and develop methods for translating the logical design into one or more physical databases documenting how data will flow through the development stages
Determine initial table sizing and growth rates based on functional requirements
Ensure database design addresses issues of data migration (e.g., validation, clean-up, mapping, etc.) ensuring data is properly migrated
Review description of changes to database design, understanding impact analysis of affected applications to ensure proper database access
Develop database schemas to ensure rapid implementation of mass data change requests and complex report/data extraction requests making sure the impact on existing applications is adequately analyzed and evaluated
Optimize database architecture schema and structures, to include files, tables, and table spacesand provide tuning and performance of the application database environment
Develop appropriate code, applications, and documentation to create production database, reviewing application design specifications and database access methods to prevent inefficient coding techniques
Develop scripts, documentation, and procedures for database administration, testing, and production as needed
Coordinate with other internal departments to ensure customer requests integrate and deploy as scheduled
Provide Tier IV support for escalated issues, ensuring a timely resolution
Write and assist departmental staff with technical system programs to provide specialized database access
Ensure data is protected according to departmental policies and procedures and is retrievable in a timely manner, auditing back up rotation to ensure adherence to established standards
Ensure adherence to design and development convention and standards
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicant for this job will be expected to meet the following minimum qualifications.
Education
Bachelor's degree with major course work in computer science, information systems, electrical engineering, computer engineer or a related field related required
Equivalent work experience in a similar position may be substituted for educational requirements
Experience
Minimum 3 years increasingly responsible experience in data systems development and administration required
Technical
Minimum 3 years experience with relational database technologies, (e.g., Informix, Microsoft SQL server, oracle, MySQL, etc.) required
Minimum 2 years experience with UNIX and shell scripting required
Minimum 1 year experience with Tandem SQL, PostgreSQL preferred
Other
Database Specific Knowledge
RDBMS technology familiarity with Oracle 11/12,18,19, Oracle ASM/ACFS, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MS SQL Server
Data modeling and schema design
Data security, availability, accessibility, persistence, recoverability, retention and archival
SQL (DDL, DCL, DML)
Creating stored procedures and triggers
Procedural extensions (PL/SQL, Transact-SQL)
Data access methodologies
Performance/Query tuning
Backup/recovery strategies, technologies, methodologies Preferred
Experience with Table Partitioning and Oracle RAC
Experience with Oracle Goldengate, Shareplex, Streams,
Revision control, e.g., Subversion, GIT
Maven, Ibatis, JIRA
Ability to Identify appropriate technologies to meet the informational needs of the business
Implementation architecture and context, e.g., server, OS, storage and network components)
Business logic; multi-tier implementations
