About the Organization
DeepSense, headquartered at Dalhousie University, is an ocean data analytics initiative designed to create collaborations between ocean companies and academic researchers to develop artificial intelligence and machine learning projects to support the growth of the ocean sector.

Job Summary
Reporting to the Executive Director, DeepSense, the DeepSense Project Manager will work closely with DeepSense staff, students, academic researchers, and ocean-related companies to create artificial intelligence and machine learning projects to enable the growth and adoption of advanced analytics in the ocean sector. The DeepSense Project Manager will draft project plans, schedules, and reports as well as ensure that project execution remains on time and any delays are properly communicated and resolved.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive, execute, and monitor the quality and delivery of projects by performing a governing role to ensure that the work is carried out according to the scope and timeline.
  • Work closely with project participants to define project milestones, success measures, risks, and mitigation measures.
  • Constantly track and communicate project status to stakeholders.
  • Support the design, development, and maintenance of project documentation.
  • Build and manage relationships with all teams to ensure timely project execution and proper resource utilization, as well as to achieve mutual goals.
  • Develop an understanding of the ocean ecosystem and technological requirements for data and AI projects.

Note
The successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus and remote work) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines.

Required Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or a similar STEM field with a minimum of 1-year related experience (or equivalent combination of training and experience) managing technology projects from end to end.
  • Ability to collect information from various sources to create a coherent project plan.
  • Experience with project management tools.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to recognize key discussion items and record comments with high accuracy.
  • Strong attention to detail.
