Salary Range:
$57,674.00 - $74,978.00 per annum

YOUR FOCUS:
Reporting to the Associate Vice-Provost, Student Affairs, the Director, Conference Services provides strategic leadership, overall direction, and quality assurance for Conference Services. Providing leadership to Conference Services includes entrepreneurial sourcing of high value events, development of a strong business model, excellence in service, risk management, governance, policy and procedure development, negotiating and collaborating, setting strategic direction, and financial oversight. This position is accountable for the continued improvement and ongoing success of the Conference Services team.

Provide leadership to the unit. Engaging in business development, business model development and management, team building, governance, ensuring the quality of services and programs, developing policies and procedures, change management, and conflict management.

Provide leadership and advice in matters related to conferences, meetings, events, space, and industry trends.

Develop and maintain campus, local, and national partnerships to facilitate the delivery of services.

Collaborate with multiple stakeholders, while meeting financial and business development goals.

Influence the development and implementation of Student Services-wide plans and programs.

Lead major strategic priorities for the department.

Provide financial leadership, which includes responsibility for budget across all Conference Services' units, the Wu Centre endowment fund, and clients' conference budgets.

Analyze, interpret, and present financial data to determine rate structures, strategic priorities, and opportunities.

Ensure financial policies, procedures, and business controls and standards reflect both UNB policy and industry standards.

Contribute to the annual budget process for Student Services through significant profit, accurate reports, projections, and proposals.

Mitigate risk by ensuring all contracts, internal administration, policies, and procedures are thorough and reflect the University's best interests.

Resolve high-level issues and complaints from clients, partners, and team members.

Lead collaborative strategic planning and direction-setting initiatives.

Influence and oversee the development of programs, services, and policies and procedures.

Benchmark, assess, and monitor to ensure data-driven decision-making.

Identify business trends and develop strategies to generate revenue in new markets.

Lead projects to raise the profile of UNB and Conference Services.

Build and maintain positive relationships with potential and current clients and key industry contacts.

Represent UNB and Conference Services and its business units to the internal and external communities.

Manage relationship and service agreements with partners and service providers.

Advocate and garner support for initiatives, resources, policies, and procedures.

Provide developmental leadership to a team of professionals and student staff which includes recruiting, hiring, mentoring, and performance evaluation.

Manage workflows for staff and ensure succession planning and cross-training.

WHAT YOU BRING:
Master's degree in business administration or related field or combination of bachelor's degree in business administration or related field and work experience/professional industry certification (CMP, CMM, PMP).

Minimum 5 years progressive responsibility in a complex business environment, preferably in the hospitality and/ or meetings & conventions industry.

Minimum 5 years' experience in Client Service, preferably in Meeting & Conventions industry.

Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Our team is focused on best-in-class service to clients and delegates across our five business units: Accommodations.

This position is part of the non-union Administrative, Professional and Technical (APT) group.
