As Director of Collective Impact, you will be responsible for leading a team in building and directing ATB's Collective Impact Initiatives in support of ATB's corporate purpose, ESG aspirations and the objectives inherent in the Social Innovation strategy. Top line accountabilities include strategy, stakeholder engagement, communications and relationships, team member and client engagement. Data and thought leadership capabilities including community assessments and measured impact are imperative. The Director is responsible for driving internal and external functions of the collective impact work and will build ATB's social innovation and backbone identity by fostering a culture of collaboration and representing ATB as a respected convener among a broad spectrum of local stakeholders.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Leadership:
  • Recruit, develop and organize the team member capabilities in order to develop and manage ATB's Collective Impact strategy.
  • Develop a cross sector partnership approach to generate long-term sustainable impact.
  • Lead an internal collaborative process to define our “stake in the ground” that is inspired by ATB's corporate purpose and guided by our ESG aspiration to advance sustainable social impact.
  • Develop a cross sector partnership approach to generate long-term sustainable impact. Seek out the communities and cross sector partnerships with aligned vision and values and inspire a collective, ecosystem based approach.
  • Provide visionary, adaptive leadership, modeling ATB's culture and behaviors at all times in order to execute on strategy and build a culture of performance.
  • Develop systems to share organizational decisions with the collective partners and stakeholders.
  • Oversee and guide community asset and gap analyses leading to a common agenda, comprehensive strategy and delivery map.
Strategic Coherence:
  • Identify the sustainable impact ATB aims to achieve in support of its corporate purpose, ESG aspirations and the objectives of the Social Innovation strategy.
  • Maintain an understanding of current implementation challenges and develop comprehensive solutions to address them.
  • Provide direction and support to partner organizations in aligning their work to the common agenda and strategy.
  • Act as a neutral arbiter and help resolve disputes or disagreements among partners and stakeholders.
Working with Collective Partners:
  • Coordinate research and other activities with initiative partners to minimize redundancies and align strategies and actions, including conducting individual outreach and education as needed.
  • Update outreach strategy as new needs emerge.
  • Coordinate with other projects and coalitions in the same field to maintain a full understanding of the current landscape of local, regional and national activities, and integrate their work into our thinking and processes.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community partners.
Communications:
  • Communicate objectives to the community and potential partners, including sharing the Common Agenda, Blueprint, or other collateral.
  • Facilitate communication between partners and other organizations by hosting regular conference calls, in-person meetings, or coordinating regular email updates to ensure alignment of activity.
  • Create or manage creation of bi-annual progress reports to inform the collective's decision making processes and to provide a single source of results for all partner communications.
  • Deliver a regular cadence of internal and external content aimed to inform and engage ATB team members and clients in the progress and activities of the collective impact work.
Facilitation and Stakeholder Management:
  • Build ATB's “backbone” identity as a respected, neutral convener among a broad spectrum of local stakeholders.
  • Cultivate excellent working relationships with senior community leaders involved in this initiative in a way that can inspire collective action without formal authority.
  • Help identify and recruit additional cross-sector stakeholders to participate in ATB's collective impact work.
Team Member and Client Engagement
  • Design and manage an engagement strategy that inspires participation in the collective impact work and that includes:
  • Work with the Collective Impact Partners to create meaningful volunteer opportunities for individuals, business units and other groups of ATB team members.
  • Working with the Collective Impact Partners and ATB business partners (EFS, Wealth, Business) to discover client volunteer and business engagement opportunities.
Shared Strategy and Measurement:

Oversee the development and implementation of a shared measurement system that will track common outcomes and indicators across the initiative and use results to inform learning and continuous improvement.

Requirements:
  • At least 10 years of relevant work experience, including at least 5 years managing teams in a fast-paced and high-growth nonprofit, social enterprise, or business start-up environment.
  • Familiarity with Alberta and initiatives that drive or remove the barriers to inclusivity, innovation and financial wellness.
  • Experience working in a Collective Impact model is an asset.
  • The presence to inspire confidence and passion in both internal and external audiences.
  • Advanced strategy and planning skills, including an ability to think strategically on both organizational and systemic levels.
  • Strong data acumen and ability to oversee shared-measurement systems.
  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills before multiple types of audiences.
  • Experience with complex project management and stakeholder management.
  • Ability to build relationships with a cross-sectoral range of stakeholders.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build authentic relationships with a diverse set of stakeholders.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and ability to thrive in a fluid, entrepreneurial environment; willingness to “roll up one's sleeves” and extend beyond formal responsibilities based on the needs of the work.
  • Advanced degree in business, education, policy, or related field.
