Job description

Widder Station Golf, Grill & Tap House was founded in 1992 in Thedford, ON as an 18-hole semi-private golf club offers an exceptionally manicured 18-hole championship golf course, a full-service dining experience in our beautifully decorated craft beer tap house as well as a newly completed entertainment, multi-event and brewing facility for our members and guests to enjoy.

Available Position: Director of Golf

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will work diligently to enhance the guest experience and exceed our member’s and guest’s expectations at the club. The successful candidate will be someone who can thrive in a fast pace, fun and professional environment and will work closely with ownership and other management team members to learn, grown and look for opportunities to improve our operation.

Responsibilities and Duties:

· Oversee the management and performance of the golf operations team including Pro Shop and Back Shop employees, starters and marshals

· Continue to develop and implement the operating procedures and training manuals for the golf operations team

· Enforce all rules and regulations governing the golf course and its assets

· Manage all fiscal areas and performance of the golf operations including budgeting, forecasting and correction

· Produce and monitor work schedules for all areas of the golf operations within the confines of the approved budget including bi-weekly payroll submission

· Coordinate membership sales and maintain strong member participation in club tournaments and events

· Organize member exclusive tournaments and social events to maintain strong member fellowship

· Manage an orientation program for new members of the club

· Actively promote new tournament opportunities and facilitate the execution of these events

· Coordinate and execute the club’s weekly golf leagues including match play and scotch 2-ball events

· Administrate all facets of the golf Point of Sale and Online Booking System (Lightspeed Retail and Chronogolf) including hardware and software requirements for the club’s computers

· Order supplies associated with golf activities and daily operations of the Pro Shop

· Purchase merchandise for the golf shop providing the best selection possible within the constraints of the approved budget and maintain an attractive and orderly appearance in the Pro Shop

· Manage all aspects of the power cart fleet including fuel management, daily cleaning and appearance of the carts as well as ensuring the carts are ready and arranged for play

· Maintain a strong working relationship with the golf course Superintendent to ensure a positive guest experience

· Attend all staff, management and other applicable meetings as required

· Work closely with other management to coordinate food and beverage requirements for tournaments and special events

· Maintain golf operation analytics including but not limited to daily and annual round counts, demographic breakdowns and year to date comparisons

Knowledge and Qualifications

· Fundamental knowledge of the game of golf, the rules of golf, golf facility operations and tournament operations

· Fundamental personnel management and supervisory practices

· Strong organizational, planning and prioritization skills

· Customer service and satisfaction focused attitude

· Maintain and promote a positive professional image at the club and within the local community

· Self motivated with a desire to promote and market the business

· Act as a role model for all employees by demonstrating the behaviour and work ethic expected of them

· Smart Serve, WHMIS and Food Handlers certified

· Technology literate including strong understating of Point-of-Sale systems and associated hardware

· Ability to maintain a strong relationship with the membership and green fee customers

· Strong event management practices including tournament and league coordination

· Quick learner and creative problem solver- ability to make important decisions on the fly

· Work effectively within a team management structure

Employment Details:

This full time management position is available immediately. The successful candidate must be flexible with hours and willing to work early mornings, evenings, weekends and stat holidays throughout the season as required.

Salary: Commensurate with experience
