Job description

Let's Make Power Plants Obsolete.

The current, centralized electricity system is not sustainable. Between the climate crisis, state-wide blackouts, aging infrastructure, and rising costs, the system needs a huge overhaul. The demand for electricity is high – and getting higher – and big power plants aren't meeting our needs. We say it's time to disrupt and decentralize.

At Peak Power, we're energy nerds that develop software for the real estate sector. Our tech turns commercial buildings and industrial facilities into virtual power plants in a new, decentralized electricity system. This means cleaner, more reliable, and more affordable electricity. We're powering the clean energy revolution.

Peak Power develops and connects battery storage, grid-interactive buildings, and electric vehicle assets in a single software platform for partners to pursue net zero goals, cut operating expenses, and unlock new revenue opportunities.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to join our team as a Director, Renewable Energy Transactions. In this role, you will take a leadership position in executing transactions to acquire and raise capital for distributed energy projects which are optimized by Peak Power's proprietary software.

These projects are pivotal in lowering energy costs and mitigating greenhouse gas emissions, contributing to our customers' commitment to sustainable energy solutions.

Our new Director, Renewable Energy Transactions will focus on:

  • Deal Management: Lead and oversee the entire transaction process, from identification to closing, fostering collaboration with internal and external stakeholders

  • Financial Analysis: Conduct comprehensive financial analyses, including modelling, valuation, and risk assessment, to support investment decisions and optimize project profitability.

  • Commercial Acumen: Use good judgment and a commercially-minded approach to advise leadership on transaction structure, considering both financial viability and sustainable impact.

  • Corporate Equity Capital Raising: Support in the identification and execution of corporate equity transactions, collaborating with internal teams and external partners to secure funding for Renewable Energy projects.

  • Negotiations: Support negotiations with investors and partners to secure favourable terms and agreements that align with the company's strategic objectives.

  • Closing: Take charge of the closing process, coordinating legal, financial, and operational aspects to ensure the timely and successful completion of transactions.

  • Communication: Compose clear, concise, and compelling memos and presentations, ensuring complex information is communicated in an accessible manner to various stakeholders

What you bring to Peak Power:

The experience and education.

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, or a related field; MBA or equivalent preferred.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in managing transactions in the energy sector, preferably with a focus on Renewable Energy.

  • Proven track record of successful deal execution and financial modelling.

  • Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills.

  • Demonstrated experience managing, training, and mentoring junior colleagues

  • Collaborative mindset with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

The drive and curiosity. You have a roll-up-your-sleeves attitude and are motivated to solve problems and support the organization's success. You are passionate about contributing to innovative solutions to climate change.

The flexibility. You are flexible to adapt your activities as needed to support evolving team priorities in a rapidly changing business environment. You are comfortable with ambiguity and are willing to figure things out when there is no clear, defined path or process outlined. You have proactiveness in identifying problems & finding solutions.
