Position: Drilling and Blasting Coordinator
Department: Technical Services
Schedule: 14 days of work followed by 14 days off (or 7/7 if prefered)
Location: Renard Mine
Homeports: Val d'Or, Chibougamau, St-Hubert or Quebec Airports
As a Drill Blast Coordinator, you are the specialist in your field of expertise at Renard Mine. You will be responsible for a team of 3 blasting designers and will have the mandate to optimize our design and sequences by working in conjunction with our colleagues in field control, planning, geology and production. Our mine uses the sub-cavity method which consists of a slice of ore drilled, blasted and excavated across the entire width of the mineralized zone in order to cause a collapse.

Coordinate all tasks associated with the underground mine, both short and medium term design ;
Develop the mining method in conjunction with the various stakeholders such as consultants involved in the project, and optimize it as the operations progress;
Work closely with all departments involved in the mine, but especially with the mining operations, ensuring to be proactive in the definition of tasks and needs in order to avoid any delays in the progress of the work;
Supervise, coach and guide the drilling and blasting design team;
Design production drilling plans, loading plans and shot sequence plans;
Provide technical support to ensure drilling and explosives loading operations are maintained in a smooth manner;
Perform underground quality control during drilling and loading operations;
Perform daily monitoring of drilling and blasting operations
Participate in various optimization projects related to drilling and production blasting;
Process and analyze data related to drilling and production blasting.
What do you need to succeed?
You have a DEC in mineral technology;
You have a minimum of 5 years experience in an underground operation;
You have excellent knowledge of software such as Autocad, Promine, Deswik, or other similar software;
You have a good knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint);
You have the Mining Worker Modular Training (1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 7), as well as a valid general explosives permit;
You have excellent teamwork skills;
You have good written and oral communication skills in French and English.
