We can hire an applicant who has a current ECE, ECEA or Responsible Adult certificate. (A "responsible adult" has taken a 20 hour childcare course, has work experience with children ages 3-5, and is willing to take a first aid course)

Cedar Daycare is a non-profit organization, caring for sixteen 3-5 year olds. We are located near swan creek trail, which leads to a woodland clearing we call “Fairyland”, and Hyacinth park/playground. We visit the forest often, and the playground sometimes. We often split into two groups of eight, and play outside between 2 to 5 hours each day. Our outdoor space is located at the back side of the Swan Creek Rec Centre, and is surrounded by tall trees. Our program is child centred and reggio inspired. We base our days on the children’s needs and interests. We take the children’s ideas and run with them, encouraging them to include others, stay inquisitive and keep trying new things. Our role as educators is to tap into each child’s intrinsic motivation, to share our enthusiasm and positive outlook, find creative ways to inspire and challenge each other, and share in the children’s delight. We strive to support the children to be observant, to self-regulate, brainstorm, problem solve, negotiate, and collaborate with their peers. We get messy and creative on a daily basis with paint, clay, sand, mud, water etc. For the most part, the children are allowed to listen to their intuition when it comes to wielding sticks and climbing heights. We are here to help them think for themselves, recognize their social responsibility and help them notice their surroundings and risks. A music teacher comes once a week, and we include reading and and music spontaneously and naturally multiple times a day. We are co-learners with the children, we are ever evolving, and always open to new ideas about how to create more meaningful experiences for the kids.
