GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:
The Enhanced Staff will be responsible for assisting in the delivery of the program for children identified on a contract/term. The position also requires the individual to assist in the preparation of the program activities in such a way that a safe, warm and caring environment for each child will be maintained specific to the child(ren)’s individual needs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Collaborate with room staff to plan and implement age appropriate activities and to present a safe/clean and visually appealing environment in accordance with the Ministry of Education regulations and the YMCA Policies and Procedures.
· Responsible for direct care, programming, and implementation of individual support plans.
· Ensure that the YMCA’s Playing to Learn curriculum is followed, and all standards are exceeded with respect to the quality assurance and guidelines.
· Assists the child care staff in incorporating learning experiences designed to meet the individual needs of the children, using a variety of teaching techniques.
· Establish and maintain positive daily communication with children, families, YMCA staff and community contacts.
· Act as a professional role model for children, volunteers, students and fellow staff members.
· Work together as an integral part of a team that meets the social, emotional and physical needs of all children in the childcare program.
· Participate in all YMCA trainings, workshops, meetings and childcare events.
· Provide positive social experiences including sharing, cooperation and role modeling the YMCA core values – Honesty, Respect, Responsibility, Caring and Inclusiveness.
· Be a role model and implement SAM 2.0 standards.
· Report any suspected or confirmed COVID-19 cases to the Child Care Supervisor.
· Follow Child Care Infection Control policies and procedures when offering toys and play materials to children.
· Ensure daily routines and practices reflect proper physical distancing measures.
· Practice and promote proper hand hygiene.
· Monitor children for symptoms of ill health.
· Other duties as assigned by the Child Care Supervisor.

EDUCATION/TRAINING/QUALIFICATIONS:
· Post-Secondary Education in a related field
· Knowledge of the Child Care and Early Years Act and requirements
· Standard first aid and CPR C+ qualifications
· A satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check
· Knowledge of the YMCA’s Playing to Learn curriculum
· Up to date immunizations
EXPERIENCE:
· Minimum of 2 years experience in a child care setting

Job Type: Part-time
Part-time hours: 20-25 per week
Salary: $18.00-$19.00 per hour
