As an Expert Advisor – Due Diligence and Business Strategy, you contribute to the execution of highly complex strategic mandates and files.
You play leadership, influence and support roles with various stakeholders on strategic, cross-sector and highly innovative files and projects. Their operational and conceptual complexity requires a thorough analysis and understanding of your area of expertise and the organization.
You act as a content expert and resource person for the members of your division and regarding investment. You need to play an advisory role in improving due diligence policies and practices through training and knowledge transfer.
More specifically, you're responsible for ensuring that internal or external business due diligence mandates for new investments and reinvestments are carried out for all Desjardins Capital funds under management. To drive value creation, you're responsible, in collaboration with colleagues, for supporting the portfolio's priority companies in their strategic thinking on their competitive positioning and commercialization.
General Information on the Position
Main responsibilities
Complete commercial due diligence on new investments and reinvestments
Validate the existence and evaluate the size and evolution of the markets served by the target business
Perform comparative analyses on product/service portfolios in order to position the target company's products in relation to those of our main competitors.
Determine whether the target company presents sustainable competitive advantages and assess its capacity in terms of developing/marketing new products.
Understand and analyze the pipeline of products/services under development in the business to determine if these products meet the emerging and future needs of customers
For each investment opportunity, analyze the entire industry value chain and target business model to assess the reasonableness of revenue forecasts and identify growth opportunities
Assist companies in identifying their need for external assistance (business analysis and strategic planning), selecting resources and defining mandates
Work closely with investment managers, due diligence and valuation colleagues to ensure consistency of content
Present the results of the due diligence work to the managers of the target companies and directors in order to establish a common and collaborative understanding of the issues and action plans
Participate with colleagues across sectors in due diligence and valuation and the investment teams in the implementation of a renewed support approach to increase the value of investments in partner companies
Develop and maintain networks of contacts appropriate to the field of activity and keep abreast of changes and trends related to your sector in order to improve our current practices and policies and share this knowledge with other employees
Support Desjardins Capital and its funds under management in their strategic positioning
Participate in any project related to your areas of responsibility that could be assigned to you
Promote Desjardins Group's cooperative values.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, finance, economics, administration, accounting or strategy
A minimum of eight years of relevant experience
Master's degree or MBA (an asset)
