What will you be doing?

Primary Responsibilities
  • Work effectively with various groups, such as carriers, freight forwarders, banks, trucking companies, international clients and Teknion associate companies. Internally, this position requires close coordination with other departments (finance, purchasing, packaging, shipping, courier office, consolidation centres, int’l sales, marketing), for cost-effective and timely logistic arrangements.
  • Co-ordinate assigned orders for export, including consolidations with the Global Group of companies and other suppliers, for sea, ground or air shipments, as applicable.
  • Prepare and submit all export related documentation for international orders, to meet the import regulations in various countries.
  • Coordinate shipments from various manufacturing locations in Canada and USA, to maximize container space usage and ensure proper documentation is issued for each container/shipment.
  • Generate shipping plans and documentation, as well as examining export related documents for completeness and accuracy, amend and sign them, as required
  • Handle letters of credit, documentary collections and other banking documents covering int’l shipments; any payment and cargo release instructions received from the Finance Dept must be implemented without delay.
  • Obtain certification of documents from Consular or other authorities, as required.

What skills, experience and education are we looking for?
  • Graduation from a recognized Export/Import program, BS level preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working as an International Export Coordinator in a large company
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to perform duties efficiently, in a deadline oriented and fast paced environment, with minimum supervision
  • Good computer skills (Word, Excel, Internet, e-mail, CAED)
  • Good math skills, for prompt evaluations and decisions
  • Accurate, detail oriented, organized and structured
  • Working knowledge of International Export/Import policies and practices, as well as Canadian export regulations
  • Solid knowledge of International Letters of Credit, Documentary Collections and related business and banking practices and documentation
  • Strong anticipation skills and forward thinking
