About Us

We are currently seeking a Field Biologist for the Crop Protection Development team. You will be Responsible for planning, implementation and reporting of biological efficacy field studies and represent the company while actively communicating with University, Government and private researchers. You will generate value added Syngenta and competitor product knowledge including data summaries, technical presentations, and regulatory submission documents.

This role will cover the Red Deer, AB territory.

What will you do:
  • Plant, maintain, harvest trials and collect field data from these with relevance to Western Canada. This includes routine site/farm maintenance activities such as tillage, soil sampling, fertilizer applications, planting plots, and applying/implementing treatments
  • Contribute to protocol design and execution of assigned field development protocols. Responsible for the analysis of protocol assignments, including preparation of written and verbal reports
  • Leads in the development of biological data for specific products, acting as a technical resource for these products
  • Recruits early talent and develops and inspires as a leader of summer interns
  • Establish and maintain strong and productive professional relationships with University, Government and private industry research and extension personnel in the territory
  • Prepare and present scientific data summaries to internal teams
Qualifications
  • Minimum B.Sc or M.Sc in Chemistry, Biology, or any relevant discipline in the agronomy field preferred
  • 2+ years experience managing a field research program in Crop Protection
  • In depth understanding of Crop Production in Western Canada
  • Experience evaluating Crop Protection Products
  • Field equipment operation and understanding of conventional field trial assets
  • Interpersonal skills required to communicate, advise, delegate, negotiate or influence others as well as build productive working relationships with others
  • Analytical skills required to interpret and summarize scientific data and information
