Based out of our Calgary office, this role will report to the Petrochemical Business Unit Manager, Planning & Analytics. The Finance Specialist will be accountable for forecasting and finance analytics for the Petrochemical business unit (P-BU) for Inter Pipeline (IPL) which includes the Heartland Petrochemical Complex, collaboratively working across functions to support and develop finance discipline and rigor across the P-BU.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in business. Ideally a focus in finance, accounting, engineering or economics
Acute attention to detail with a high accuracy
Pro-active self-starter with the ability to adapt to changing priority
Independence, ability to effectively collaborate in teamwork within the department and multi-functional teams; pro-active self-starter with the ability to adapt to changing priorities
Experience:
5-10 years’ experience in oil & gas, petrochemical or investment banking.
Experience dealing with complex financial models
Extensive knowledge and know-how in MS Excel – considered an asset
Skills
Communication skills to provide concise summaries and recommendations derived from large complex models
Analytical ability to critically assess results and recommendations, on a timely basis
Key Activities and Responsibilities:
Own and progress the business unit forecast and economic approach for development; includes but not limited to the economic model, first year ramp-up of revenue curve, five-year cycle analysis and ten-year models
Continue to align the business units ongoing forecasting practice and with IPL’s Corporate Strategy & Planning expectations
Collaborate with line-item and business area owners to ensure quality data and communicate of all changes within the model are supported and understand
Prepare and present reports, charts and tables detailing market and operational factor changes to inform marketing, product and corporate strategy decisions
Work within the Finance team, specifically, Commercial Allocations, Volumetrics and Accounting teams ensuring that industry best practices and guidelines are applied to the forecasting practice and deliverables
Implement the KPI program, where appropriate, into the modelling and scenario analysis work as required
Ensure clear accountabilities for decision making, communication and integration points are set and understood in support of the overall HPC governance structure
Work with the business unit commercial and operational leadership teams to ensure dashboards for decisions, measurement scorecards for performance and external/internal corporate reporting support quality data management and are aligned to the forecasting approach
Develop positive working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders and support a One-IPL approach
Assist IPL/business unit with any credit rating agency preparations, preparation and coordinating gathering of information for any future financing initiatives and other corporate development activities as assigned

Full time, Monday to Friday

Wage Range:
$130000- $145000. Please note that actual salaries may reflect individual candidate's experience.
