KEY AND PERIODIC ACTIVITIES
The duties and responsibilities listed below are representative but not all-inclusive:
Primary
Perform monthly general ledger reconciliations
Review general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and make corrective journal entries
Assist in preparing monthly management reporting packages (balance sheet, income and cash flow statement, and key performance indicators)
Assist in preparing quarterly financial results and reporting packages
Assist in preparing budgets, forecasts and analysis of actual results
Perform quarterly internal controls verifications to help support the CEO/CFO financial statement certification
Perform section 33 verification in accordance with the Financial Administration Act
Respond to inquiries about financial processes (e.g. accounts payable, billing, invoices)
Assist with year-end activities
Help respond to auditor questions and requests
Other
Support colleagues and projects, as required (e.g. testing reports in financial system)
Propose process improvements
Act as webmaster for the Finance department
Other duties as assigned
SKILLS
General and Specific Knowledge
Finance and accounting principles
Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards
Formal Education and/or Certification(s) and Experience
Minimum: bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, and progress towards and eligibility for the Chartered Professional Accountant designation
Abilities
Use applicable computer software and operating systems, including Excel
Demonstrate attention to detail
Manage multiple deadlines and priorities
Demonstrate problem-solving skills and use sound judgment

Provide occasional functional advice and guidance to employees
WORKING CONDITIONS
Typical office environment with little or no travel
Flexibility to work additional hours when needed at quarter-end and other peak periods
DCC is responsible for the Personnel Security Clearance process. Typically to be eligible for a "Reliability" clearance, you must have five years of verifiable background information and to be eligible for a "Secret" clearance, you must have 10 years of verifiable background information. The process usually involves reference inquiries, verification of qualifications, criminal records checks, and credit checks (as required) and may require fingerprints.
