AddressWe are hiring for a full time permanent position working in the fast paced environment of FIT Online reservations. The start date is as soon as possible.
We are currently operating with a hybrid office and remote work system with 50% of time in the office.
Highly organized, enthusiastic and detail oriented team players are needed to succeed in this role. Excellent IT skills are needed to work with and manage data in the booking system. Strong communication skills will be needed in dealing with both clients and suppliers.
Our clients are international tour operators sending tourist clients to Canada from overseas, in particular Europe, US, Latin America, Australia and New Zealand. The ORCA Booking System features over 700 hotels across Canada and Alaska as well as tours, activities and transfers. The system provides instant confirmation of hotel reservations to authorized travel trade operators allowing them to dynamically package tours online. The position is for an in house reservation agent working with the booking system.
Responsibilities:
- Working with our in house reservation system to quote, book and operate tours for individual (FIT) clients
- Working with international tour operators to design custom itineraries for their clients traveling to Canada.
- Preparing documents (itineraries and vouchers) for clients (30-15 days before tour starts)
- Booking hotels, attractions, tours, transfers and other services in the booking system
- Translations (if applicable depending on languages spoken)
- Attending supplier functions and educational events in Vancouver and learning the tourism product throughout Canada
- Handling emergency calls out of hours (in rotation)
- Updating pricing in the booking system
- Minimum 1 year experience working in the travel / hospitality industry
- Strong IT skills and experience in working with a travel reservation system
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word and EXCEL
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment and meet deadlines
- A highly detail orientated approach to work
- Knowledge of North American geography and tourism products
- Organizational ability
- Numerical ability
- Fluency in English is essential and good command of another European language would be an advantage.
- Canadian citizenship or a valid work visa for Canada, must be based in Vancouver or available to move to Vancouver immediately.
