Job description

Overview: The Business IntelligenceBusiness Analyst reports to the Director of Business Intelligence. Their primary responsibility is to liaise with both internal and external clients to gather information, define requirements, model data, and build proof of concepts. They are also responsible for creating documentation, providing end-user support, and ensuring that the BI solutions implemented meet the required company standards.

Responsibilities: As part of the Business Intelligence team, your responsibilities will include:

1. Business Analysis

  • Gather client requirements for new report requests, applications and other data warehouse changes
  • Analyze new data sources and model on how they will integrate into our existing environment.
  • Write basic TSQL queries for analysis and proof of concept
  • Lead or assist on data migration and integration projects
  • Ensure Project Management methodologies are followed for assigned projects (scoping, planning and implementation)

2. Support

  • Collaborate with end-users to help understand how reports function and answer other client inquires
  • Support the business in managing data integrity
  • Provide support and problem resolution for reporting and application issues
  • Data validation and QA of solutions developed by the Business Intelligence Team

3. Documentation and Maintenance

  • Document all development and customizations, including report specifications, process chart, and use-case diagrams
  • Maintain the IT knowledge database with BI development documentation

Qualifications:

  • A University degree or diploma in Computer Science (DEC or AEC) or equivalent.
  • You are bilingual: you must speak fluent English and French to interact with French and English-speaking customers in Canada. Answering customers in English will be required between 30 and 60% of the time.


You have 3 or more years' experience in the following fields or functions:

  • Business or Data Analyst Role in a Business Intelligence environment
  • Analyzing, designing and implementing Business Intelligence solutions
  • Reporting, analysis, and/or data mining especially in the retail, food, warehousing or transportation sectors

The following competencies are essential to succeed in this role:

  • Experience in writing TSQL queries (Basic Knowledge)
  • Understanding of BI concepts of Data Warehousing, Data Marts, ETL processes and multidimensional cubes
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. (French and English)


You'll stand out from the crowd if you also master the following tools and solutions:

  • Microsoft Business Intelligence Stack (SSRS, SSIS, SSAS)
  • Microsoft Business Intelligence cloud architecture concepts
  • Microsoft Power BI
  • JIRA and Confluence
  • Call center operations and KPIs are familiar territory for you

Finally, you'll also need:

  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to technical and non-technical individuals (French and English)
  • Knowledge of Software Project Management methodologies and frameworks (Agile, SCRUM, KANBAN)
  • Strong analytical, time management, organization, problem solving, and customer service skills
  • Capable of working autonomously and collaborating with a dynamic team
