Job description

Reporting to the Clinical Manager, the Health Records Clerk functions as a member of the Walker Family Cancer Center interdisciplinary team, striving to provide an excellent patient experience. The incumbent's primary role will be to prepare the electronic medical record to ensure all relevant information/reports required are available for clinic visits. The successful candidate's home site will be the St. Catharines Site and must be willing to work at two (2) or more sites. Shift rotations are subject to change.
QUALIFICATIONS:
o Graduate of a Medical Office Assistant Program or Medical Terminology Certificate and equivalent in related experience
o One year related clerical experience in a health care/medical office clerical setting
o One year recent experience with computer software including Microsoft Office programs
o Accurate keyboarding skills with a minimum of 50 w.p.m.
o Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency with various software applications including Mosaiq, Meditech, Clinical Connect, Lifelab and Microsoft products
o Demonstrated ability to work calmly and effectively within an interdisciplinary team-oriented environment, anticipate potential problems/conflicts and implement appropriate actions
o Demonstrated professional interactions and communications with patients, public, colleagues and medical staff indicating commitment to patient/client centred care
o Evidence of effective customer service, organizational, interpersonal, decision making skills with high regard for confidentiality
o Compliance with confidential requirements under the Niagara Health Privacy Policy
o Proven time management skills with ability to prioritize multiple priorities effectively and independently
o Must be available for all shifts, vacation replacement, sick time and paid holidays
o Travel between sites when required
o Consistent and regular attendance required
o Proficiency in both official languages (English and French) will be considered an asset
o Vaccines (COVID-19 and others) are a new hire requirement of the job unless you have an exemption based on medical or on a ground pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code
