Job description

The Oil and Gas Compant would benefit from having a Local Industrial Hygienist at site to support the transition from Project to the early operations until steady state. Due to the remote location and the requirement of unsupervised work, a professional certified candidate (ROH or CIH) from British Columbia with a minimum of 4-5 years of experiences would be best options to complete the industrial hygiene program. A BC certification is recognized in some Worksafe BC legislation and guidance and there are many critical activities that benefit from the specialized skillset of the Industrial Hygienist to complement other discipline.

WHAT’S THE ROLE:

Develop and deliver the local industrial hygiene strategies and methodologies, specifically conducting reviews of HRA's and providing quality assurance on external consultancies, conducting audits and training and coaching of IH (technicians), to support the business in protecting worker health.

This role will:

  • Be accountable for IH planning, delivery, and advice for LNG Canada site
  • Lead the delivery of agreed Industrial Hygiene activities and support using standardized tools and processes
  • Provide pro-active advice to asset on emerging hazards and new regulations.
  • Share learnings and good practice across the asset.
  • Deliver hands-on as well as strategically, developing a broader overview of health and hygiene issues for LNG Canada, defining the tools and processes necessary for efficient health risk management
  • Assess and ensure compliance with legislative and Control Framework industrial hygiene requirements
  • Coach and mentor around IH to the stakeholders and acting as a counsel for other (health) disciplines on IH
  • Quality assure and guide HSSE MS supervisor on external industrial hygiene consultancy and analysis services.
  • Build and manage relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Audit, review and approve health risk assessments and monitoring studies.
  • Participate in HSSE inspections, audits and committees.

Professional skills:

  • Degree in Industrial Hygiene (or Science - Chemical, Physics or Biology)
  • Registered/accreditation in Industrial Hygiene (qualified IH)
  • Experience in Industrial Hygiene practice.
  • Proven experience in Gas, Oil, Chemicals or Renewable Energy
  • Thorough understanding of local and regional legislative requirements regarding workplace health and safety
  • Experience in advising management on industrial hygiene requirements in line with business and/or functional needs and priorities
  • Fluent in English. Verbal and writing skills in English.
  • Valid driver's license.

Pay: $83,200.00-$104,500.00 per year

  • OH&S legislation and knowledge of current industry: 5 years (required)

  • assessing exposure to health hazards: 5 years (required)

Licence/Certification:

  • Driving Licence (required)
  • degree in industrial hygiene (preferred)
