Position Title: Integrations Architect

Team and Location: IT - Calgary, AB

Position Summary:

The Integration Architect oversees and maintains all aspects of Integrations between applications for Parkland Fuel Corporation. This position is responsible for the strategy, roadmap and governance over technical solution architecture and design. Key deliverables include establishing an Enterprise Application Architecture framework, governance over key IT projects, developing Integration solution architecture for various application technologies, documenting interfaces, programming languages used and data transferred, and identifying cost savings measures via ongoing application rationalization. Secondary responsibility includes merging IT applications from acquisitions to Parkland standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborating with the enterprise architect as the domain architect for integrations to meet the needs of the business.  
  • Maintain Application Capabilities and map to Business capabilities. 
  • Maintain API/ETL libraries with EA modeling tool.
  • Create and develop new integration standards and patterns and develop Business SLAs and KPIs to set proper expectations with the business on delivery engine .
  • Enforce project solution architects to follow established standards.
  • Helping shape the technology roadmap of the enterprise with other domain architects.  
  • Documenting application development processes, procedures, and standards.  
  • Evaluate and perform benchmarks of applications and newer technologies to increase business and technology capability.  
  • Integrating latest trends in application development projects and processes. 
  • Identify cost saving initiatives through efficient technology design, enforcing standards, and identifying to business owners when multiple, redundant technologies already exist in Parkland environment. 
  • Develop New Technology Form and work with business on every new application coming into the Parkland environment.
  • Provide guidance for all application solution designers to fill out the Architecture Design Document. 
  • Lead overall governance of the application projects across multiple teams via the Architecture Review Board (ARB).
  • Work collaboratively with the Project Sponsor and the cross-functional project team translate business problems into technology solutions.
  • Work with all PMs in supporting guiding through technical roadblocks. 

Qualifications and Skills: 

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a software engineer or software/application architect.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience working directly on API and ETL integrations.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science with a specialization in software engineering, application development, or similar.  
  • AWS and Azure deployment of server-less technologies and containers along with VMs. AWS Solutions Architect Associate or Azure Certified Solution Architect certifications required.
  • Interface with key stakeholders and apply technical proficiency across different stages of the Software Development Life Cycle including Requirements Elicitation, Application Architecture definition, and Design. 
  • Have deep knowledge on API Integrations, experience using REST and SOAP in a standard framework.
  • Have deep knowledge on ETL Integrations such as SSIS, TSQL, etc.  
  • Have working knowledge of IPaaS software such as Mulesoft, Informatica, Boomi or Talend. 
  • Knowledge of DevSecOps and experience in building CI/CD pipelines in projects using GitHub & Git, AWS and Infrastructure as a code.  
  • Knowledge of containers, Docker and Kubernetes focused on application modernization.  
  • Provide recommendations on industry and application integration trends in analyzing and planning IT needs, specifically in areas of SOA, API, EAI, ESB and microservices. 
  • Knowledge of software architecture frameworks and libraries and standards such as OAuth, SAML, GraphQL and queuing systems such as AWS SQS.  
  • Highly proficient in programming languages such as Javascript, React, Node.js, Python and .NET. 
  • Extensive experience in aligning application development with business needs.  
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.  
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.  
  • Superb organizational and time management skills.  
  • Great collaboration and communication skills. 
  • ITIL and TOGAF certifications.
