IT Support Specialist (1 year contract)
This role is responsible for installing and maintaining computer systems and networks (hardware and software components) of the organization’s computers.
This role will provide support to 2000 users across our 16 facilities located in Ontario and will report directly to the Systems Manager.
The goal is to build and maintain updated and efficient computer systems and networks to optimize the role of technology in support of the business.
Skills and Experience
1-3 years of technology support experience
Ability to provide remote end user support
Working knowledge of various software and support requirements including Office 365, Windows server 2008-2019, Active Directory, SQL Server, Windows 10/11
Knowledge of common technology security practices and day to day privacy principles
Networking, including wireless, experience and expertise would be an asset
Excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting/problem solving skills with the ability to evaluate complex issues and develop actionable plans
Excellent communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively with users at all levels of the organization
Highly organized and process oriented. A high attention to detail and proven ability to manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously
Requires travel to various sites on a regular basis as required
Specific Responsibilities
Provide end user support for all their technology needs (Computer, desk phone, mobile phone, printer, software, etc)
Gain an understanding of users’ IT concerns and issues. Routinely interact with various departments and listen to their technical needs providing assessment and solutions to resolve issues
Provide orientation and guidance to users on how to operate software and computer equipment
Ensure ongoing functionality of all equipment
Install and configure appropriate hardware and software according to specifications. Setting up workstations with computers and necessary peripheral devices
Maintain local networks to optimize performance. Organize and schedule upgrades and maintenance with the ability to schedule around user requirements
Review system events and logs for reactive and preventative issue resolution
Maintain records/logs of repairs and fixes and maintenance schedules
Ensure security and privacy of networks and computer systems
Cataloging and inventory of IT Equipment
Following up with equipment and software licensing needs
Execute any other IT related tasks as assigned by the System Manager
