CGI-BC is looking for a creative and hardworking individual to work on mission-critical manufacturing applications for the various process sectors of the aluminum smelter in Kitimat and the power generation facilities in Kemano.
The successful candidate will join a team of approximately 15 onsite IS/IT professionals whose objective is to ensure the stable operation of all digital services used in the plant. Responsibilities include:
- Investigate, diagnose, and correct problems identified by the clients.
- Analyze, prioritize, and implement improvements to industrial applications.
- Receive changes delivered by project teams, ensuring their operations and future maintainability.
- Monitor and maintain the operational continuity of the industrial systems.
- Collaborate with specialists in Site Support, Infrastructure, Industrial Applications, and Demand Management to deliver the best possible service to their clients.
- Actively participate in the Health, Safety, and Environmental Program.
- Participate in an on-call rotation with other team members.
- B.Sc. or college diploma in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related subject area.
- Demonstrated ability (5+ years) in application support. Experience in an industrial environment is a definite asset.
- Oracle and MS SQL (SQL queries and PL SQL)
- .NET
- Knowledge of different relational database technologies and programming languages.
- Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Creative problem-solving to find permanent, cost-effective solutions.
- Great teammate, taking different roles as required, but having the capacity to work independently.
- Bilingualism is mandatory (French & English).
- PI historian understanding
- Network/infrastructure understanding
- Version control systems, such as GIT and Source Safe
- Day shift work, including off-hour support on a rotating basis.
CGI will pay for the plane, food & accommodation for the candidates outside of BC one week every month so they can work from the office.
