Job Summary
Reporting to the Project Hydrogeologist, and Geotechnical and Geoscience field leads, the Junior Hydrogeologist will be responsible for drilling-based hydrogeologic data collection in support of a large and complex prefeasibility-level study. The successful candidate will contribute as a member of the field team, assisting with field planning and execution and data processing, while upholding rigorous safety standards. The position is in support of the 2024 geotechnical field program at the Galore Creek Project, a world-class porphyry copper-gold deposit.
Overview
This position is based out of the Galore Creek project site, a remote fly-in camp located in northwestern British Columbia. GCMC will provide travel to and from the project site. This role is expected to be working on-site on a rotational basis of 15 days on, 13 days off from July until September 2024, with office-based work before and after the field season.

Responsibilities

-Be a courageous safety leader; lead by example and foster a proactive safety and sustainability culture based on the common values of health, safety, environment, and communities shared by the asset owners (Teck and Newmont).
-Actively seek opportunities to recognize health and safety hazards, resolve safety issues, and work to mitigate associated risks in the workplace.
-Contribute as a junior member of the field team, providing technical leadership and guidance, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of a multi-faceted technical program.
-Working closely with the Project Hydrogeologist, the Geotechnical and Geoscience leads, the Junior Hydrogeologist will plan, execute, and interpret hydrogeologic investigations.
-Hydrogeologic investigations are planned to include:

-Single bladder hydraulic packer testing (IPI SWiPS)
-Grouted Vibrating Wire Piezometer Installations (exceeding 600m)
-Monitoring well installations; traditional and PVC w/ bentonite packers
-Instrument deployment (Levelogger, RST dataloggers, etc)
-Revisit historic installations for data collection.
-Interpret hydraulic packer test results in order to make decisions live in the field.
-Compile and prepare progress reports and technical reports as required, concisely summarizing project results for multiple customers (management, value assurance, consultant

Qualifications

-Currently enrolled in, or recent graduate of an Engineering or related Geoscience discipline, or equivalent diploma of technology, from an accredited post-secondary institution. 
-Two (2) years of experience with field/office based hydrogeologic characterization is an asset.
-Experience in drilling downhole hydrogeologic packer testing, and well/piezometer installation.
-Registered, or eligible for professional registration with Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia (EGBC) is an asset.
-Familiarity with specialized software for field level data collection/interpretation is an asset, including Leapfrog, Aqtesolv, RST/Solinst products, and data management software.
-Strong analytical skills and knowledge of data analysis techniques; familiarity with QA/QC procedures is an asset.
-Experience working in a diverse and multicultural environment.
-Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written; the ability to write clear and concise reports and present technical information to a variety of audiences.
-Ability to liaise with contractors and colleagues on site in a respectful and professional manner.
-Ability to lift 25 kg safely and comfortably.
-A 
results-focused attitude and strong time management skills in a dynamic field environment.
-Valid Class 5 Driver’s license; familiarity driving pickup trucks on remote/rural roads, and active mining or construction sites is an asset.
Pay Range (Annual Salary): $75,000 - $90,000
