Job description

Job Title: Land Development Planner

Job Summary:

As a Land Development Planner, you will play a critical role in guiding and facilitating the responsible and sustainable development of land, ensuring it adheres to regulations and meets the needs of communities. You will collaborate with various stakeholders to create comprehensive Land Development plans that balance economic, environmental, and social considerations. Your expertise will contribute to the growth and well-being of the communities you serve.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Land Use Planning: Develop, implement, and manage land use plans, zoning regulations, and policies in accordance with local, provincial, and national laws and guidelines.

2. Site Assessment: Evaluate potential development sites for their suitability, taking into consideration, environmental impacts, infrastructure, and community needs.

3. Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with government agencies, developers, community groups, and other stakeholders to gather input and build consensus on Land Development projects

4. Environmental Sustainability: Promote sustainable Land Development practices, such as green infrastructure, conservation easements, and responsible land use.

5. Infrastructure Planning: Coordinate with engineers and infrastructure experts to ensure that Land Development projects have adequate utilities, transportation access, and other necessary infrastructure.

6. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all Land Development plans and projects comply with zoning regulations, environmental laws, and other relevant statutes.

7. Project Management: Oversee the planning and execution of Land Development projects, managing budgets, timelines, and resources effectively.

8. Data Analysis: Utilize geographic information systems (GIS) and other tools to analyze data related to land use, demographics, and environmental factors.

9. Public Outreach: Conduct public hearings, workshops, and informational sessions to inform the public about Land Development projects and gather feedback.

Measurements of Performance:

1. Successful Project Completion: Evaluate the percentage of Land Development projects completed within established timelines and budgets.

2. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all projects adhere to zoning regulations and environmental laws with no major violations or legal issues.

3. Stakeholder Satisfaction: Gauge stakeholder satisfaction through feedback surveys, public input, and successful collaboration with various parties.

4. Sustainability Impact: Assess the environmental sustainability of Land Development projects through metrics like green space preservation, energy efficiency, and reduction in carbon footprint.

5. Data Utilization: Track the effective use of data analysis tools and GIS in planning and decision-making processes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Environmental Science, Geography, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Proven experience in Land Development planning, zoning regulations, and project management.
  • Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal land use and environmental laws.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills for stakeholder engagement.
  • Proficiency in GIS and other relevant planning software.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of sustainable Land Development practices and urban design principles.
  • Professional certification is a plus.
