Job description

The Outreach, Analytics and Reporting Unit is responsible for the preparation of the majority of the Ministry's standard and special reports, information and analysis; reports on the population and demographic characteristics of the education system and the holistic educational outcomes of students in the K-12 system for the Ministry, school districts, schools and the public. The Unit develops visualizations and provides data, analysis, and information to support and promote evidence-based policy decisions throughout the education sector.


The Lead Power BI Developer is responsible for identifying and summarizing the key indicators that impact student achievement. The Lead provides analysis for standard and ad hoc reports and projects to support access and use of high-quality data to support the Ministry's goals and objectives. The Lead will spend much of their time providing expert consultation on technical requirements for the Ministry's data needs, manipulating large data sets within a data warehouse environment, reviewing data sets for quality and consistency, and summarizing data for diverse audiences utilizing data visualization tools and visualization dashboards.

Qualifications for this role include:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, statistics, mathematics, economics or a related field.
  • Minimum one (1) year experience with Power BI for data visualization.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience with SQL programming.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience with relational and/or object data modelling, data analysis, data warehousing techniques, data management principles, structured analysis and design.
