Legislative Coordinator

Two-year temporary position

Who we are

We invite you to join the Strategic Initiatives and Policy team! The team provides expert support and advice in strategy development, performance accountability, process improvement, policy development, right-to-information requests, appointments to agencies, boards and commissions, and legislature coordination.

What you will do

Reporting to the Executive Director of Strategic Initiatives and Policy, you will accurately and efficiently manage the coordination, development and production of all legislative-related submissions to the Executive Council Office and other briefing and information-related materials/activities as assigned. Key responsibilities of this position are:

  • Daily monitoring of Legislative Assembly activities
  • Identifying, reporting on, and responding to business relating to the department as dealt with in the Legislature, including:
    • Coordinating and preparing the legislative and ministerial briefing books
    • Coordinating and responding to notices of motion and petitions
    • Coordinating ministerial statements and weekly legislative reports
    • Collecting, coordinating and providing assistance with advising on the department's responses and reviewing and disseminating information and advice required from the department
    • Coordinating and assisting with providing advice on Ministerial and/or Corporation responses for requests for Notices of Motion, Debatable Motions and other Legislative activities
  • Monitoring, managing, and updating department websites and service directory
  • Coordinating the development and publication of the department's annual report
  • Supporting the maintenance of the department's annual calendar and stakeholder list
  • Assisting in coordinating ministerial briefing materials for FPT/Intergovernmental meetings
  • Assisting with policy-related work as determined by the Executive Director of Strategic Initiatives and Policy
  • Become a Commissioner of Oaths
  • Other related duties as assigned

Work Environment

  • Location: Marysville Place, Fredericton
  • Office environment: open office
  • Hours of work: 8:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday
  • Some weekday evenings and weekend work hours may be required

Need to have

  • A university degree in Arts, Journalism, Social Sciences, Public Administration or a related field
  • Experience in written communications and editing
  • Ability to use office technology, software and applications
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered
  • Written and spoken competence in English and French is required

Wage

$1,749.00 to $2,442.00 bi-weekly (Pay Band 2)
