Reporting to the kiln foreman, the Kiln Assistant ensures compliance with health and safety policies and, with the foreman's support, is responsible for ensuring optimum kiln performance and lumber drying quality. Also responsible for coordinating lumber receipts and inventories.
Main tasks:
- Coordinate lumber unloading trucks and verify bills of lading vs. receipt;
- Notify controller of any errors on bills of lading;
- Forward bills of lading received to controller;-
- Istall moisture probes;
-- Knowledge of drying schedules and each kiln for; fir-spruce-jack pine; HT;
- Able to replace foreman during his absences;
- T-ake lumber inventories;
- Make and prepare quality reports with b(1 to 2 per week in kiln rotation);
- Place and remove blocks for loading and unloading kilns (and yard);
- Grease rail tracks as needed;
- Other job-related tasks;
- Perform all other related tasks;
Personality profile;
DEC (or equivalent) OR at least 2 years' experience in a similar position; training in wood handling (major asset)
Experience in the forest industry (major asset)
