About the role

How can we use Machine Learning to improve the UX of building conversational experiences?

That's the question we'd like your help to answer at Voiceflow. We currently have 100,000+ teams using the platform along with numerous enterprises and are focused on improving their experiences in building voice and chat apps.

We're looking for an ML Engineer to help build the platform and models that power these user experiences. This is a unique opportunity to be an early member of a scaling ML team and have ownership of large projects.

You'll work with our ML Lead to research, build and deploy models to our real time ML platform. You'll also contribute to the underlying platform to scale it for dozens of models and a large volume of requests. What we currently have

  • V1 of a ML Platform that can deploy models end to end in 5 min
  • A comprehensive CLI utility that can handle versioning, model promotions and the creation of isolated ML Environments
  • Four Models in production
  • An exciting (and realistic) roadmap involving in-house LMs and LLM integration
  • Great engineering team

What you'll contribute

  • Productionalize existing and new models
  • Increase performance and scale of the ML platform
  • Research and prototype new ML Models
  • Take ownership of new initiatives from requirements gathering to updates and iterations
  • Making customers excited about Voiceflow ML by attending events/calls and creating content

Qualifications

  • You have strong experience in one of the following areas, and familiarity with the other two:
    • Data Science (NLP or Recommender Systems)
    • Data Engineering
    • Cloud Engineering
  • 3+ years development experience
  • Experience with Terraform/Cloud Formation and AWS/GCP
  • You are excited about working on interesting problems
  • You take initiative to build better products
  • Strong research (googling) skills

Nice to have:

  • Experience with Real Time Systems
  • Familiarity with the Alexa Skills Kit/Google Actions Console or Chatbots and IVR systems
  • Strong Understanding of NLU/NLP models

At Voiceflow, since we are a small and mighty team - we put a lot of care and time into who we hire. We take a hybrid approach when it comes to our recruitment process. We believe in a combination of conversational-style & standardized interviews along with take-home assessments for technical positions.
