This job contributes to Starbucks success by managing the market planning function, consulting with senior management to define market and real estate development strategies, and developing market-specific assessments and action plans. Models and acts in accordance with Starbucks guiding principles.
Summary of Key Responsibilities
Leadership
- Setting goals for the work group, developing organizational capability, and modeling how we work together:
- Identifies and communicates key responsibilities and practices to ensure the immediate team of direct reports promotes a successful attitude, confidence in leadership, and teamwork to achieve business results.
- Supports the implementation of company programs to ensure the success of the Company.
Planning and Execution
- Developing strategic and operational plans for the work group, managing execution, and measuring results:
- Plans and manages business unit and department processes and practices to ensure that programs are aligned with company business goals and objectives.
- Prepares, communicates and educates client groups and team on changes in policies and practices within the organization.
- Provides consultative services to senior management and oversees analytical projects assessing new business development, growth, strategic planning and related business initiatives.
Business Requirements
- Acts as senior team analyst conducting statistical analyses and building multivariate models.
- Creates standardized reports and applications on store and market performance.
- Reviews and critiques statistical validity of analyses completed by others.
- Advocates enterprise market planning tools such as Geographic Information Systems (GIS), geodemographics, data mining and consumer research.
- Trains field real estate teams on the availability and application of market and site analysis tools and processes.
- Directs team conducting strategic planning research using geodemographic, consumer and company data regarding market development, store network optimization, site selection, store expansion and renovations or relocations.
- Oversees analytical support of ad hoc and strategic planning analyses to support field real estate development and asset management. Conducts market gap and penetration studies. Assists field senior management with identification of appropriate strategies and execution plans to achieve store opening, penetration and sales performance objectives.
- Oversees production and process of demographic reporting and analysis services, including documentation and support materials for site and market planning tools in production. Manages the implementation of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and technology.
Partner Development & Team Building
- Providing partners with coaching, feedback, and developmental opportunities and building effective teams:
- Challenges and inspires partners to achieve business results.
- Conducts and ensures the completion of performance reviews.
- Ensures partners adhere to legal and operational compliance requirements.
- Oversees training and development of partners directly and indirectly managed and makes effective staffing
- Provides coaching, direction and leadership support to team members in order to achieve partner, business and customer results
