Position Overview
Reporting to a Senior Engineer, the Mine Engineering EIT will gain experience in the practical aspects of Mine Engineering through working in the Mine Technical Services Department. The successful candidate may take on various roles within the department, including Mine Design, Scheduling, Long-Term Planning, Ground Control or Mine Systems, as required. The Mine Engineering EIT will provide technical support in their specific area or responsibility and gain appropriate experience toward the achievement of their professional designation. The successful candidate may also gain exposure to other mine sites within Glencore, and flexibility to travel and work internationally is an asset.
The Mine Engineering EIT will be an analytical individual with strong technical problem solving skills, and posses the ability to collaborate with both Engineering and Production personnel on a regular basis. They will be responsible to comply with site safety and environmental policies and any relevant SOPs, as well as support the achievement of the mine’s production, cost and safety targets.
Qualifications
Theidealcandidatemusthave:
A degree in Mining Engineering from a recognized university
1-2yearsofrelevantworkexperience, including student placements
ExperienceinusingAutoCAD orotherminingsoftwaresystems
ProficiencywithMicrosoftExcel
The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Excellentcommunication.Interpersonal and critical thinking skulls
Thefollowing skillswouldbe considered valuable additional assets:
ExperiencewithDeswick, MineRP or similar Planning and Scheduling systems
Knowledgeofdatabasing,analytics,anddashboarding platforms
Skillswithelectronics,robotsorinstrumentation
