Work Hours: 8:30AM to 4:00PM with a half-hour unpaid lunch break (35 hours per week). Staff must be prepared to work extended-hour shifts as well.
Duration: Full-time position for the duration of 4-6 weeks (depending on location) From July 4th or July 17th-August 11th). Staff must be available for specific training days in late June and Early July.
Location: This position is offered in Mississauga, Toronto Danforth and Ajax/Pickering
Job Summary: Under the supervision of the site supervisor and Camp Director, the Multi-Sport Camp Summer Counsellor is responsible to provide care and supervision to all campers in the program, as well as teaching and animating sports assigned to the group via their schedule
Specific Responsibilities
The "Multi-Sport Camp Summer Counsellor" will teach campers relative skills and strategies to the assigned sports, as well as animate games and tournaments in a way that is existing and inclusive to all campers
The "Multi-Sport Camp Summer Counsellor" will commit to learning the material given to them by the camp director, relating to how to run various drills and how to engage each camper in all sports being played.
The "Multi-Sport Camp Summer Counsellor" should see to creating an enjoyable and fun experience for each camper while they are at camp. As required, suggestions for improvements/changes will be made to the campus coordinator.
The "Multi-Sport Camp Summer Counsellor" will supervise campers throughout the day and ensure their safety as required and support the site supervisor as required. They should also ensure that equipment, facilities and grounds are safe play areas for children.
The "Multi-Sport Camp Summer Counsellor" will familiarize themselves with all the campers under their supervision and ensure that all medical concerns/allergies are reviewed and understood. The "Multi-Sport Camp Summer Counsellor" will carry out any other duties as assigned by Camp Tournesols management.
Requirements
- Staff must be CPR certified before the first day of their contract
- A valid vulnerable sector police check is required for staff over the age of 18
- A general understanding of sports is required
- Experience playing organized team sports is an asset
- Day and Overnight camp experience is an asset
