This position will provide technical leadership for the Small Format print area with respect to Offset and inkjet print technologies. This position will focus primarily on and be accountable for improving the OEE of printing press, equipment troubleshooting & optimizing existing process flows. This person will improve the knowledge base of the Printing Team within Small Format primarily through training, development & maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). This person will act as a liaison with other Vistaprint teams to help them understand the current state of operations, implement step change improvements, apply best practices and introduce new printing technology. This individual will work closely with the Technical Services and operations teams to ensure that all plant policy deployment objectives are met and exceeded.
 
Essential Functions:
-Development & change management of small format printing procedures inclusive of operations and maintenance
-Responsible for the development of training strategies for Small Format by performing the following analysis/evaluations:
-Skills assessments of the current Press Operators (assessments will be performed by this role)
-Review OEM operational best practices
-Pareto of machine downtime reports
-Provide training to press operator trainers regarding the proper operation and maintenance of Offset and webfed inkjet printing presses as required
-Through the analysis of downtime data, work with the maintenance team (Internal & External) to evaluate the effectiveness of the preventative maintenance plan, recommend & manage changes
-Ensure consistency in the execution of the preventative maintenance plan through development of clear and concise SOPs
-Review shift reports to identify and action recurring issues
-Actively participate in daily escalation meetings as the key contact for print equipment performance related questions and concerns
-Develop improvements to enhance machine reliability
 
Periodic Functions:
-Support the technical team in the troubleshooting of major downtime escalations and facilitate formalizing root cause analysis (Fishbone, 5 Why, A3, etc.)
-Support evaluation of new print technologies and new process introductions
-Lead & support Continuous Improvement activities to optimize equipment OEE
-Manage and support controlled print runs for high value customers as required
 
Education, Experience, and Skills Required:
-High school diploma or equivalent required
-Min. 5 years of Offset printing experience on 40” multi-colour presses
-G7 certification or ability to acquire
-Formalized training certification from Manroland or Heidelberg preferred
-Experience with webfed inkjet print technology an asset
-Hands-on, assertive and motivated to ensure that plant meets aggressive goals
-Ability to interact effectively with all levels, and all positions, within organization
-Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
-Ability to manage multiple projects, work independently, as well as on a team, prioritize workload & meet deadlines
-Demonstrated ability a systems perspective to all activities
-Incumbent will have a passion for excellence in people, processes and analytics. This is a hands-on position that will require a self-motivated, high energy level individual.
-Ability to organize and lead training situations
-Have excellent computer skills and knowledge of the following software packages:
-Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word, Visio)
-Able to travel as the need arises
-Ability to work flexible hours (Days/Afternoons/Midnights)
