Optometric Assistant/Administrative Assistant

​Job Description:

• Update electronic records, file patient files and perform other routine clerical tasks
• Maintain patient records, third party billing and financial records and database as assigned
• Answer phones, texts, emails(patient communication)
• Book appointments
• Insurance billings and submissions
• AHC billings
• Scanning
• Administer eye drops and record detailed information on patient history.
• Prepare examination rooms including sterilization and calibration of instruments – turn on all computers and set to current patient information. Ensure privacy of patient information!
• Provide direction and information as required to patients and collect required health information prior to eye exam.
• Perform diagnostic testing and other pre-exam testing as require (autorefractor, tonometry, lensometry, OCT, Optos, Visual Fields)
• Maintain diagnostic and exam room supplies. Update appropriate person as needed when supplies are running low.

The Requirements:

• Grade 12 Diploma
• Must be willing to work in different locations (High River and Okotoks)
• Drivers License
• Reliable Vehicle
• CCOA and Medical Office assistant Certificates are assets but not a requirement
• Work with limited supervision
• Multitasking is a must as this is a fast pace clinic
• Motivated to grow and learn
• Minimum 1 year of customer service experience
