Do you like to collaborate with others? Looking for an opportunity to lead? Within the External Relations team, you will have the opportunity to strategically advance one of the following areas. Through your creativity and initiative, you will work both in collaboration and independently to connect with target audiences, reaching them in their daily lives.

Your role:
Advises on the design and delivery of field unit partnering and engagement programs, initiatives and products, and delivers field unit public relations and communication activities and services to engage the public, partners and stakeholders in the understanding, appreciation and protection of the natural and cultural heritage places managed by Parks Canada.

Elk Island National Park is only 20 minutes from Edmonton, Alberta and sits within the UNESCO designated Beaver Hills Biosphere. Rolling hills, glassy lakes, star-filled prairie skies set the stage for the large bison herds that call the park home.

EDUCATION:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized university with specialization in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism, business administration, commerce or a field relevant to the position, or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience in a field related to the position.

Proof of education will be required at time of interview.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:
  • Experience developing strategic plans and tools to support:
  • Stakeholder and partner engagement, and;
  • Public relations and communication objectives;
  • Experience engaging news media in Canada
  • Experience in supervising and training staff, volunteers and/or students.

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance

Obtain and maintain valid class 5 driver’s license or equivalent.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must wear Parks Canada Agency uniform, personal safety equipment and protective clothing/gear.
  • Willingness to work and/or travel in varied terrain, weather conditions, isolated locations and by various means of transportation.
  • Willingness to work irregular hours, overtime, weekends and/or statutory holidays and provincial/territorial holidays, when required.
