The Piping Design Application Specialist (DAS) provides technical support for the team of designers on a project utilizing various design software such as Hexagon Smart 3D, CADWorx, Bentley OpenPlant, and/or Autodesk Plant 3D (P3D).

Primary responsibilities are to provide end user support; project set-up and configuration; and customization to meet specific project requirements.

Reports directly to the Project Piping Lead for specific project requirements and is the main contact for the team of designers.

Basic Job Requirements

Other responsibilities include but not limited to:
  • Project Setup and configuration to support Piping design execution and production of piping deliverables
  • Create, load, maintain Piping Material Catalog and Pipe Support Specification for the project
  • Drawing set-up and Configuration - Orthographic, Isometric, and drawing title block customization
  • Create, customize, and generate various types of reports and audits from 3D models
  • First point of contact for any piping specific CAD issues and concerns - Trouble shoot and provide solutions to CAD related problems and issues
  • Prepare and implement CAD Procedures, CAD Bulletin and Instructions to design team for consistent CAD execution.
  • Provide CAD related training and coaching to users as required -Organize designers / users meetings and/or training
  • Perform CAD related audits on regular basis
  • Other CAD Related Tasks - 2D / 3D CAD support during Isometric and drawing production
Preferred Qualifications
  • Accredited two (2) years in technical field of study or equivalent
  • At least two (2) years in experience with use of 3D CAD applications such as Smart3D, CADWorx, Bentley OpenPlant, and/or Plant 3D (P3D) as a User/Designer and Administrator
  • Experience in Oil, Gas, Energy and Chemicals or related industry experience
  • Knowledge of commonly used Industry Standards and Practices (ASME, API, ASTM, etc.)
  • Job related technical knowledge to complete the job
  • Intermediate computer and software skills such as Microsoft office tools/software (MS Excel, MS Access, SQL)
  • Ability to communicate effectively with audiences such as team of designers, co-workers, Leads, Supervisors, and Managers
  • Flexible, Adaptable and Team player
  • Can work with minimal or without supervision
  • Other duties as assigned
