The Department of Social Development is seeking an individual to join the Housing and Homelessness unit as a Provincial Program Consultant in its Central Office. The position is based in Fredericton; however, a telework option from various locations across the province will be considered.

As a member of the Housing and Homelessness unit, the successful candidate will be responsible for the coordination and implementation of the construction of new Public Housing units around the province. The incumbent will oversee land acquisition and assembly, which will include working with other levels of government and community partners to align regional priorities. In addition, the successful candidate will liaise with internal partners to oversee planning and construction of the new units.

This position will be required to build strong relationships with community partners, municipalities and other stakeholders (both internal and external) to ensure the successful implementation of this new initiative. The successful candidate will encourage collaboration, strengthen partnerships, and foster engagement with the Department.

The incumbent will also be expected to maintain a provincial perspective on issues related to the housing and homelessness sector, and be aware of services and research developments in other jurisdictions. Other duties may be assigned as required.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree in a related discipline with at least three (3) years related experience, OR a Bachelor's degree in a related discipline with at least five (5) years related experience.

An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

Written and spoken competence in English is required. Please state your language capability.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS: Preference may be given to candidates who demonstrate experience in one or more of the following asset qualifications:

Knowledge of financial statement analysis, market analysis, appraisal and property management
Knowledge of real estate development stages and processes
Highly developed communication and negotiation skills
Knowledge of the housing industry - market trends, housing price trends, interest rates, etc.

Subject to the response of this competition, candidates may be required to demonstrate one or more of the asset qualifications on their application in addition to the essential qualifications to be given further consideration.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENT: Travel throughout the province may be required and candidates must possess a valid driver's license.

Salary: $61,204 to $85,514 per annum.
