Reporting to the Executive Director, Family Wellness, the Regional Director is accountable for coordinating regional program and service planning and managing the delivery of departmental programs and services provided to residents of the region.

The Regional Director is accountable for delivering a wide range of family social service programs including child protection, adoptions, foster care, suicide prevention, children/adults with disabilities, family violence, child abuse prevention and advocacy for vulnerable groups who cannot advocate for themselves. The Regional Director will also manage day-to-day operations in program areas and provides operational supervision to regional program managers.

The combination of knowledge, skills, and abilities normally acquired through the completion of an undergraduate degree in Social Work, and/or Graduate degree in Social Work/Social Sciences is preferred with 7 years of progressively responsible program management experience, including 5 years in management or supervision. A combination of Education and experience may be considered.

The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktitut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. Fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages would be considered an asset. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets.

Acceptable combinations of education and experience may be considered for this position. This is a Highly Sensitive Position, and VSC and CRC is required. The Regional Director is delegated under the CSFA and may be required to conduct high level, high risk, or high-profile investigations which include coming into contact and interviewing children, youth and vulnerable people.
