SUMMARY

The Regional Operations Director - Janitorial is accountable for operations management and meeting service delivery obligations, achieving budget and client satisfaction as well as the effective direction and business development of BGIS- SCS meeting all internal and external requirements. In addition, this role is also responsible for contributing to strategic and account management plans and objectives and people leadership. Provide guidance and leadership to Managers, Supervisors and Team Leaders and advise Executive team to assist in helping the company achieve its strategic goals and objectives as well as increases in operating performance.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

People Leadership

Demonstrates strong, competent leadership for team members to guide them in reaching their full potential and meeting their objectives, which supports achievement of our corporate goals. Specifically, these responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Responsible for people-oriented activities including but not limited to full involvement with recruiting talent, employee engagement & retention, development, and performance management.
  • Provides mentoring, coaching and guidance to all team members.
  • Ensures compliance with health and safety standards in the delivery of work through activities ensuring that regular toolbox talks are being conducted by leads and their teams, implementing safety training, providing protective equipment, reviewing, and monitoring incidents.
  • Manages all aspects of performance.

For the assigned region(s) and Business Units

Account Management

  • Continuously engages clients in discussions to understand and anticipate needs, identify and recommend additional services.
  • Provides input and contributes to the development and execution of strategic account expansion plans.
  • Recommends additional pull-through services and contributes to contract renewal and business development activities.
  • Monitors and drives team performance to ensure achievement of service level agreements and performance metrics.
  • Collaborates with relevant stakeholders to review, develop, refine and implement processes and standard operating procedures.
  • As a condition of employment, you will work wherever the business requires, including from BGIS-SCS offices, at client sites, or other locations approved by BGIS-SCS.
  • Must be available after hours for emergency issues.

Business Development

  • Working in partnership with Operations, Sales, and Sr. Management to scope, implement, and assess service delivery models including costing and pricing in the context of standalone and integrated cleaning.
  • Formulate work-loading requirements for new opportunities using industry accepted methodology for determining the number of labour hours needed to accomplish work requirements as specified in the scope of work or performance outcomes including financial modeling, analysis and compilation of quantitative data – specifically volume and cost – including labour, materials, overheads etc.
  • Working with prospective clients and/or business development teams through the sales process.
  • Actively seek new business opportunities to expand into new portfolios for the assigned region(s)/ business unit(s).

Client Relationship Management

  • Accountable for achieving client satisfaction objectives for the assigned region(s)/ business unit(s).
  • Accountable for developing and maintaining effective relationships with clients, managing client expectations.
  • Acts as the focal point of escalation for issues pertaining to facilities within assigned region(s)/ business unit(s).

Profitability

  • Achieves profitability targets for the assigned region/ business unit(s).
  • Participates in, provides recommendations, and contributes to continuous improvement projects to achieve efficiency gains and cost savings.
  • Recommends and implements technologies to achieve greater efficiencies and productivity.

Budget Management

  • Accountable for budgeting for assigned region(s)/ business unit(s).
  • Manages the execution of budget for portfolios within assigned region(s)/ business unit(s).
  • Achieves greater efficiencies through factors including but not limited to effective resource utilization and labor loading, work order and callback issues review and developing and implementing corrective solutions, leveraging self-perform.

Portfolio Management

  • Accountable for leading the operations and maintenance activities of a portfolio of facilities along with the execution of the portfolio’s programs operations management within the assigned region(s)/ business unit(s).
  • Implements short to mid-term plans for the assigned region(s) / business unit(s).
  • Provides input into strategic plans.

Service Delivery Management

  • Accountable for meeting all service obligations for the assigned region(s)/ business unit(s).
  • Accountable for meeting established metrics/key performance indicators.
  • Leads the operations team in the development and implementation of action plans to remediate gaps, where applicable, to ensure objectives are met.
  • Accountable for ensuring compliance to all legislated, corporate and industry-related requirements and guidelines including but not limited to environmental, health and safety, and building standard requirements.

Project Management

  • Accountable for on-time, on-budget and quality delivery of facility management projects for the assigned region(s)/ business unit(s).
  • Collaborates with clients and internal stakeholders to identify project opportunities and priorities, develop and implement projects.
  • Oversees the development and execution of project plans for portfolios within assigned region(s)/ business unit(s).

Procurement

  • Collaborates with Procurement and Supply Chain Administration teams to source and qualify vendors, source and procure goods and services.

Continuous Improvement

  • Collaborates with stakeholders and contributes to efficiency gains through activities including but not limited to identifying and implementing best practices; reviewing, refining and/or developing, implementing processes, technologies, and sustainable practices, and leveraging self-perform wherever possible.
  • Implements related enhancements for the assigned region(s)/ business unit(s).

Regulatory, Health and Safety requirements

  • Ensuring all regulatory compliance, Health, Safety, Environment & Security, Risk Management, Emergency Preparedness and Business Continuity planning and execution requirements have been met and all related documentations are created and maintained.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Direct experience in costing/pricing for commercial services – ideally cleaning or similar high labour functions.
  • Experience in understanding and working with commercial contracts in the context of work scope and KPI management for delivery of services.
  • Strong operations management skills and background in the area of commercial cleaning /technical services delivery and operations.
  • Pragmatic and practical view to service delivery. Findings must work in reality, as opposed to just in theory.
