The Canadian Light Source is currently recruiting a Summer Student for the REIXS Beamline within the Material/Chemical Sciences Department. Reporting to the Beamline Responsible, Senior Scientist, this position will be a full-time summer position starting on Wednesday, May 1st, and concluding on Friday, August 30th, or as discussed with the direct supervisor.
Position Summary:
The successful candidate will be tasked with the primary responsibility of updating existing data visualization software. The successful student will develop and deploy new features that will assist users in data acquisition. The student will create a portable data analysis/reduction notebook to be used to both plot, analyze, reduce, and export data. In addition, you will be tasked with developing and deploying advanced data reduction methods to improve data collection efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program specializing in computer science, physics, mathematics, computer engineering, or engineering physics.
- Familiarity with python programming is mandatory for the creation of and production of graphical software.
- Applicants should be familiar with handling large datasets in python and using Jupyter notebook.
- Physics/Mathematics expertise would be considered an asset.
- Excellent attention to details.
- Ability to work independently and in a group setting.
